Self Awareness Yields Change

Def Alexi

The custom nature of mood tracking, with the graph and colors, is helpful for seeing patterns in moods and deciphering objective mood changes versus other kinds. It makes self reflection a little more objective. Also seeing other people’s moods (1) helps decrease focus on myself (which can be excessive in extreme moods like depression or mania),(2) increases gratefulness when seeing other people doing worse and (3) reminds me constantly that I’m not alone in the feelings I experience and there’s support and people that can relate. I really like it. Not 5 stars because while the technical design is well-designed and clearly thoughtful, the aesthetic design is a little weak. And even if that’s to remove extra stimulation for an audience that may be overly stimulated or stimulus-sensitive - I think there’s a way to still accomplish that with a better aesthetic experience. It’s not a necessity but desirable. Overall the app is exceptional though because I don’t even do reviews usually, and this app - affecting people in such a vulnerable area - demanded one.

#1 Resource for Managing Mental Health Challenges

This is an incredibly valuable app for anyone with mood issues, especially those diagnosed with bipolar disorder. It gives you three simple tools: a daily mood chart (1–5 stars); a text record to use as you like; and anonymous social commenting. I wish therapists showed an interest in it, but I’ve never been able to gain any traction for some reason. Its reminder function (only) works with Apple Watch. Tracking ups and downs are valuable, especially in spotting cycles. However, wise use of the text box is what makes this app really shine. If you use it to note situations, drug changes, and any other variables, you may discover what’s really going on: i.e. not just random changes in one or more neurotransmitters like your psychiatrist claims. For example, if you get depressed only and every time after an argument with your significant other, now all of a sudden your “bipolar” starts looking a lot more psychodynamic instead of “brain chemicals.” Or maybe every time you take a particular drug you feel worse, or have a side effect. This is huge, because maybe you need to consider psychoanalysis instead of (or along with pills) or perhaps avoiding certain meds. Sometimes my entries are a couple of sentences; sometimes they’re blog length. Keeping mood changes in context is the key. You are also creating a record of your own personal study, although I’ve never gotten my care providers to show much interest. Other trackers can follow the record of this Professional Lunatick at reviewer’s user name “Ballade.” Which brings us to the social aspect. It doesn’t bother me that most users are younger. I’ve never run across anyone obnoxious. The insights of a veteran Professional Lunatick who’s been through it all (save lobotomy) might help out some youngster. And just because someone is young doesn’t mean they don’t have something valuable to say. Users can “heart” your mood, which is sort of a “oh, I’m so sorry” (or “So happy for you!”) that works like the famous thumbs-up. They can also leave public comments and, if I’m not mistaken, private messages. It’s nice getting the occasional support. Below the mood chart is a sort of word cloud of your custom mood descriptions. That might be useful for some, but I wish there was a way to turn it off because every time I want someone to see my last month’s moods, I notice them reading my descriptions below, which I would rather keep private. It might be nice to have a way to print out the chart alone in some sharable format like JPEG. Another small complaint is that the worst mood (1, or Red) might mean “psychic disturbance” to me, not “depression;” while the best mood (5, or Yellow) might mean “joyful” instead of “manic.” The app subtly reinforces the dominant “disease” model, but I don’t see a way around it. If you share information with your care providers, just make sure you’re all on the same page I have used Moodtrack for a long time and it has become my number one resource for understanding and managing my mental health challenges. I recommend it without reservation.

The only mood tracking app that I have stuck with

impulsivepassion

Looking for a mood tracking app? This is legit the one. My therapist has tried to sell me on every app and desperately tried to get me to track my mood for years. All of them were a waste of time and I never stuck with it. This one legit is the only one I found interesting and fun to keep up with. It charts your mood so you literally on a chart can watch your mood cycles spiking up or down. You have the option to write a description about why your mood is the way it is at the time. What made me love THIS app is the fact that it’s ALL ANONYMOUS and everyone’s mood descriptions are posted on the “everyone” board, so you have the ability to anonymously comment on someone else’s mood they posted and be social with others, and others have the ability to comment on your mood. I love the interaction factor of this app. It makes you feel not so alone in your own head. This app is 100% the one to download if you’re looking for a legit mood tracking app that you’ll stick with!

Always had a hard time sharing my emotions and feelings this is a great way to work with that.

You’re never alone

Losingmysamity

No matter how trivial or extreme, everyone on the app is sharing an experience that can distract or relate to your own. And since its anonymous you just feel free, and it’s an amazingly supportive community.

Fix this please

I have been using this app for a long time, and enjoy it a lot. BUT this one thing bothers me a lot. When I type a long mood and the whole page fills up, the page will not scroll to the top. Or if it does the page starts to jam and not scroll. I have this problem almost all the time to the point where I stopped using the app for a little while. Another thing is if I go back to edit the mood I posted, I will click in between words to fix an error or anything and the whole page goes blank and does not scroll. I don’t know if others are experiencing this, but the app seems like it’s not supported on the IPhone XR. Please fix this, as I would love to keep using this app.

Seems abandoned.

I’d rate this a 0 if I could. I stopped using this app years ago, because I didn’t like the interface. It was too basic, too simple for my needs. About a year ago, I emailed asking how to close my account. I was told to go to the website to log in... but you can’t log in on the website. The website is just an ad for the app. I never got a response to my reply after that. Cut to now, I emailed again asking to close my account, and haven’t received any response after three days. Their “help” page is just a link to email them (which is either out of date or unmonitored) or a link to their twitter which hasn’t been updated in two years. This app is awful and the developers really seem like they have given up on it, since I can see the last update was a year ago.

It helps

makaylq

It’s helps you connect with other people and yourself the good and the bad. It shows how you grew as a person wit your emotions and how your handling them.

Keep the updates coming, please! :)

I wish this app had more statistics to it. I would love to see an “average mood per day/month/year” I have been using this app for a couple of weeks now. I look forward to any updates in the future.

i love it !
