A-ok

I bought this for accelerando capabilities and it's more than delivered. Also the mixed meter stuff is EASY to figure out (not sure what everyone else's deal is). My only problem is that this is ergonomically tricky to use on the fly- the controls are so small that if you want to flip back to a slow tempo (if you want to repeatedly practice an accelerando for example) it takes several seconds to find an exact tempo that's more than 4 bpm away. If you attempt to slide the control with your finger instead of using the +1 or -1 buttons you'll overshoot by 20 clicks, almost always. Even expanded on the iPad it's not much better. I'd still buy this app for accel. and multi meter but I hope the interface gets updated to be more ergonomic. Thanks!

I searched high and low to find this app. I wanted to re-create the metronome sequence that Virgil Donato used in his Video "Power Drumming". It's an 7 bar sequence preceeded by an 8 count, and the tempo bumps up from 100bpm to 200bpm in increments of twenty and repeats itself starting from the 8-count again until you're done with several single stroke variations. It's a killer workout for your chops. but all of the Virgil magic distracts you and/or discourages you, and makes you lose count and you miss the tempo changes. So i wanted to emulate it so all i have to worry about is me during the excercises. So... mission accomplished. and it's perfect and totally customizeable. It's too much though if you are just wanting a steady pulse or just to work on one time signature. I have 4 other Metronome apps and they all center on some aspect of timekeeping that the others don't. This is an awesome addition to my toolkit and I can't wait to dig deeper into it later. PROBLEM: the video clips on the website are out dated. I initially purchased this based on the demo online only to discover that the interface has changed. It took me another 45 minutes to do what I wanted via trial and error. I don't sight read music but I do have an idea about meters and subdivisions. A begginer or a total score-illiterate will get frustrated and give this app bad reviews... as you have probably already read a few. C'mon guys, it says "professional metronome" in the title. If you want a little clik-tink-tink-tink, then just buy the freebee ones. I'll give it 5 stars when they update the web videos. I really think that is probably whey some people are disgruntled about it. All the reivews are from 2009 and 2010 and are reviewing 2.0 or 2.1. This version is 2.5.2. Just get up to date and it'll be cool.

Not together

Bopbud

Awkward app. Not intuitive. Worst problem is it crashes half the time I try to add a new sequence. iOS 5.0.1 iPhone 4s.

Great capability but has some bugs. Settings keeps changing on their own. Tap feature is flakey. Not very intuitive in setting up. I'd give it a 5+ for capability for the price if not for the bugs.

Great tool, needs UI improvements

I was looking for a metronome that would do auto-advancing of tempo and this fit the bill. It can do really complex things with custom beats ala a sequencer if you're practicing a difficult piece of music with various meters and tempos. My needs are not that complex. The biggest thing this app needs is a UI overhaul. The main screen tap targets are very tiny and there is no reason they need to be. Apple HIG suggests a minimum 44x44 tap target and the buttons are smaller than that. They should be as large as possible and possibly have some mechanism for advancing more than a single bpm for a button press (tap and hold for instance). The Play/Pause button should be the largest button on the screen. And how about implementing some gesture recognition? A tap anywhere (not otherwise intercepted by a target) could be used for play/pause. Swipe up/down could raise/lower the current tempo by some fixed amount (determined by a setting). Lastly, I've noticed some bugginess with the beat indicators not functioning correctly with variance being set, and/or adjusting the tempo and/or variance on the fly as it's playing. The indicators get lost and don't animate correctly.

The right metronome for me

Perfect if you want lots of features and control over them. I'm the kind of guy who wants even more features than this has, so I hope the updates keep adding them. If you prefer simplicity, this ain't your metronome. An analogy: it's the metronome equivalent of Finale notation software.

Fantastic!

Excellent app

I enjoy the many options for different patterns. I use this fort High School drumline. It's been very effective.

Total adaption to the score

The best metronome I've used. It's capable of delivering ANY slow, steady pulse!
