Metro-North Train Time is free iOS app published by MTA/New York City Transit

I kept thinking Metro North was taking an awfully long time to add late trains after Covid, because the last train listed in the app was 11:35. I complained to a friend, and she said the 1:55 am was actually already there. Sure enough it was listed on the Metro North website, but not on this app even after updating. What good is a train schedule app with the wrong schedule?

1. The map is very very choppy when zooming in, it is hardly unusable and it is an important feature because without panning is hard to see in what station the train is. The LIRR app map is a lot better in this regard, look at that map and emulate it. 2. Do not delete the schedules for the trains that have departed within a couple of hours from the station you are searching. It is often necessary to look at a train that has departed if someone you are expecting is on that train. 3. If your iPhone is running on Zoomed screen mode the text in the app gets cut off and because dysfunctional.

Thank god I went to the station to look. This app told me that the last train home was at 7:36. I’m currently sitting on the 8:02 train. And after that??? There’s at least 3 others coming. Someone needs to look into this.

The new version is confusing and forces you to favorite specific times in trips, when I want the flexibility of finding the nearest times. Plus the layout is too complicated compared to the old version where it was all in one place.

This version it’s not possible to see the trip you are on and so track actual progress and time of arrival.

The MTA continues to be a perfect example of uselessness. What good is an app that doesn’t have TIMELY UPDATED ON SCHEDULES?! Hint: IT IS USELESS.
how do you operate
The App keeps showing that it is offline when using the cellular connection. It only works when I’m at a location with strong WiFi—not when I’m mobile. It only shows the track for the next upcoming train. The website shows the planned track numbers for several upcoming trains. Am I doing something wrong? Ps. It is annoying even trying to send this note!

Just installed the update that is said to support Apple Watch although I don’t have the watch. It doesn’t run on this iPod, it shows the banner screen then crashes. Nice going.
