Love Mendeley, hate the iOS app

It’s so buggy!!!! All of my folders and documents are listed twice, if I try to open a document the app consistently crashes until my third attempt and the characters don’t show up when I’m writing a new comment...


Used to be great, now usuably buggy

Crashes are frequent as are freezes. I have to restart the app about once per minute (sample size: 5 minutes of use & 5 restarts). To open a pdf, I have to time the GUI glitches so I could press the right location. Nearly unusable


Please make compatible with iOS 13

Dear Mendeley, I appreciate your desktop product and I will easily tell you that if it wasn’t for your product, I would not finish graduate school. The current iOS version of this product is disappointing. More people will be moving away from laptops now that the iPad iOS 13 can do virtually anything a laptop can and more. I share this with you because this is an opportunity to corner the market in tablet readers/citations. I sincerely hope that you consider investing in this upgrade, as I would be the first to download and use it. As of right now, however, I am unable to access Mendeley with my iPad, which has forced me to move my files to a competitor. Respectfully, Matt

Mendeley helps me save much time on organizing research papers and files. I love the service itself however not this mobile version... All I need is simply a portable PDF reader that can let me read papers on the go. I choose Mendely app because it is painful to manage PDF files around when using a 3rd party tool. But this app hardly works and always has some weird bugs when I need it. For example, recently the app asked me to log in again due to the expired session. After logging in I found all the paper entries were duplicated for some reason. Moreover, when opening a file, I could not close the side panel to enter the fullscreen mode. If there’s anyway to report the bug I’m willing to do so. Hope we will see a better version soon...

Keeps getting worse - and worse - and worse...

I don’t know who does the IT for Mendeley, but they must be using the lowest bidder. All of the clients keep getting worse, including the Windows and Linux desktop clients; but this is about the iPad app. When it’s not simply frozen, it is slowed to a crawl perpetually syncing, retrieving documents, pushing notices, or just nonspecifically spinning its wheels. When you tap on a document to expand it to full screen, it immediately pops back to the smaller size; this happens over and over. If the app were at least gradually improving, I’d just put up with it. But it isn’t getting better, it’s getting slowly but surely worse. I am getting very close to looking for another program, which I don’t do lightly, because both Zotero and ReadCube leave quite a bit to be desired. But better a product that doesn’t work too well than one that doesn’t work at all.

I would love to be able to use this app, but as it stands it is unusable. The app does not give me the option to download any new PDFs that I add to my library. However,older PDFs I am able to download...am I doing something wrong?
