Can’t believe Apple let them publish this illegal app on AppleStore. Even if you pay the subscription the money won’t go to those manga creators. They have no rights. What a shame!

Edit- premium is forever! Then I still love this app. Deva actually work out issues and they have a big range of manga. There is a new membership out that will allow you to Download unlimited manga (premium owners already have it). It will remove all ads( again premium already have this). It also offers auto sync and faster load times due to no ads. Soooo those of us who bought the premium app, do we still get to keep no adds and unlimited downloads?

Japanese Manga Artists on Twitter have now been notified of this app and are planning to license their stuff. I’d advise you delete the app before the worst comes.

Unfair to both the authors and the illustrators

While I understand that there are many titles that aren’t readily available for publication outside of Japan, the fact that this app and the devs behind that have no intention of reimbursing or paying the original creators their due is not only detrimental to the creators’ work and effort, but also to their livelihood. It’s bad enough that many of them are struggling with wages just barely below the living standard, but at a work environment where “crunch time” virtually rules their lives. The developers of this app and their website respectively do not share those same tribulations and are profiting at the creators’ expense. @Apple This is both a critique of the application in question (MangaRock) and it’s developers (Not a Basement Studio JSC) and also a formal request to remove MangaRock from your AppStore. There is much confusion that this app and its developers are with official standing with the creators when in actuality they are not. There are those who are willing to help facilitate official publications and distributions of the creators’ works in question, but many are discouraged from doing so because of the influence of pirate sites in the current age. Please help us take a step in the right direction in being able to shift the distribution from piracy to official publications who are willing to get these wonderful works out there to the readers as soon and readily as possible. Thank you.

Reconsider using, and at the least do not give them money

Echoing other recent reviewers, I would just like to restate how this website/app deprives artists of their livelihoods and makes it harder for official manga translations to reach countries outside of Japan. To be honest, I have used scanlation sites like this before and taking this app down will not eradicate them. However, it will make it harder for them to continue working for profits/growth (as mangarock or mangafox enables) and gives creators and mangaka a way to literally make a living. Please look up almost any mangaka’s thoughts on scanlations as they are overwhelming negative. It may take you a while to start buying official manga as it did for me in the states but it is surprisingly easy, possible, and does not weigh on your conscience. Have a great day ?

Update forces ads into it

I got the app and did not like the ads, so I paid to have them removed, months of use and no problems but now they have changed their policy and adds have been added back in. And now, unless I subscribe I can’t get rid of them. Poor form indeed

Love this app! I am able to explore so many different manga artist that I would have never known about if it weren’t for this app. It’s amazing to be able to find so many different manga in one area. I like to read stories that are not main stream and there are hundreds if not thousands of titles to choose from!
