Now has iPad formatted version and but still lacking some cool features

SCJayj

This is an updated review. They recent added iPad formatted version and added rooms. The app works on both iPhone and iPad and is good. There are some features that are not include that are available in the Smart Bridge such as delay and fade rates. If I use a 3rd party app I can include those two features in scenes and then I can select those scenes in the Lutron app and they work so I’m assuming they are stored in the hub. Not sure if other features are missing that I’m not aware of. What is interesting is that HomeKit/Siri scenes are different than Lutron scenes and done use the scenes stored in the hub. Alexa uses the Lutron scenes. It is nice that developers responded to my initial review. Thanks Lutron!

Accuracy of Lights

Michael_Zucker

I have come to love my Lutron. However we have noticed that current status of lights is not depicted in the app. For example, one light could be on, but the app says it’s off. The brightness of less is also different. It was not like this before. What changed?

Adequate

The app makes the process of adding devices simple enough. But I wish the scenes could have conditions. For example, I have a “night light” scene that dimly lights my way to the bathroom and kitchen at night when I don’t want bright light to make me too alert. But what if someone else is in one of the rooms in my path? If the lights are already on, I don’t want to dim them. So I’d like to say, if this light is off, set it to 10%. But maybe that’s a HomeKit failing. Line is kind of blurry. Also, there appears to be no good way for a Pico to trigger a non-Lutron device, except in HomeKit if it’s grouped with a Lutron dimmer. If the would allow the app to see non Luton HomeKit devices, we could map them to a Pico’s buttons, which would be nice for things like controlling a fan or a HomeKit light.

Could be good but needs improvement

Keeps resetting forcing me to log on again and re-calibrating the software. Annoying. User interface could use improving. Hope to see changes.

Slooooooow

App is way too slow to load. Room names is annoying and you have to scroll and scroll and scroll if you have a few. 50 device limit should not count the pico remotes. It should be switches only. I really want to buy more... but Lutron has capped my ability to do so through the 50 device limit. That is money left on the table for you guys!

Questionable

The app does great things however it didn’t support the iPhone X and Their Apple Watch app is terrible. 3/15/2018 Current lutron app is crashing my Apple Watch and causing it to restart. iPhone app has yet to be updated to support the iPhone 10. Was told it was in the works months ago. Disappointed. Will fix starts when this app works properly again. Just make the Apple Watch more simple. The response time is terrible and the app often quits when trying to change a light or blind setting.

I love this app

I'm on my second home with Caseta switches and found it very easy to set up. The first time I hired somebody to come in and set up the light bridge and program the switches. By the time I installed it in my second home (18 months later) I was very familiar with the product and I did it myself in about 90 minutes. I did have an electrician install the switches so I can’t comment on that installation. If you are a first time user I’d suggest you try it yourself and if you get stuck on anything just watch the YouTube videos. I do like the smart away feature, others have commented that they would like a longer time frame as opposed to the four hour window provided, it would be great if you could a little bit more flexibility. I just figured out if I click on the temperature it actually brings up more info from my nest. It was a bit more intuitive before and I didn’t realize the temperature display was actually a button/link. Thanks for listening to my suggestion to add more icons, I think you pretty much nailed it. Now I can actually see what I am doing without my reading glasses. I’d still like to be able to use photos of my fixtures for icons ?.

what happened to nest integration

gatti956

updated the app today and my nest integration said no cameras could be found with nest aware (i have 5 that do)....so i figured i would remove the nest integration and start over...so i removed the nest integration and now i don’t see nest referenced anywhere! what happened???

Now with the iPad app these switches come a long way and a amazing system I have the limit 50 of them wish I could add more hopefully they will expand it in the future !! Best home innovation out amazing system!! Highly recommend

Lag improved but app has lost relevance due to device limitation

The app does appear to start up a bit faster since last year however it is still much slower than Apple’s home app. In addition, the Lutron app is only limited to the account under which a specific bridge is used. I have reached my 50 Lutron devices limit and if i get another bridge i can’t use both under the same app since each bridge has a different email associated and i would have to log out of one to use the other. I would have to rely on the Apple Home app to aggregate all homekit or all Lutron bridges for that matter which defeats the purpose of using this app.
