How do you turn the lights out at a certain time?

Superb App

yetinut

I have been using this app (and its updates) for a few years to control more than 30 Lutron switches/dimmers in my home. From controlling my circulation pumps to driveway lights to interfacing with Nest protect, it is really impressive. I look forward to continued improvements and functionality. Truly an amazing product.

Good - but could easily be so much better

I installed the Caseta system in our house a couple of weeks ago. Installation was a really smooth experience: the system really simplifies wiring (effectively, turning three-pole switches back into single pole switches, controlled by wireless remotes), allows for lots of customisation (like being able to control multiple lights in a room with one button press), and is a great improvement on all the manual switches we had before. Overall, I’m impressed – but there are a couple of seemingly obvious things that have been overlooked. Firstly, my partner and I both have iPhones – but Lutron’s geofencing isn’t smart enough to tell when one of us is home and the other is out, and only switch lights on if we’re both out, for example. If I turn the option on and leave, all the lights go off, leaving my husband in darkness. Not all that smart, right? There’s a workaround if you have a Nest device that can be set to determine whether someone’s home, but if you don’t have one, this isn’t an option. If our thermostat can get this right, why can’t Lutron? And then there’s the Siri/HomeKit integration. I love being able to tell Siri to “turn the kitchen lights on” or “set the living room lights to 50%” – but why doesn’t HomeKit see the Scenes I’ve set up in the Lutron app, too? If I tell Siri to “set the lights to Evening”, she tells me she doesn’t know what I’m talking about. Again, there’s a workaround: you can duplicate these Scenes as new Scenes in HomeKit – but it seems like an oversight. And, at time of writing, the Lutron app isn’t supported for the Shortcuts app, either. Finally, we need a better way to make “tweaks” to Scenes that have already been set up. Live editing isn’t possible, and neither is it possible to “grab” the way the lights are set in a room and store that as a Scene. This means, if I decide I want to make changes, that I have to go into each device, one by one, make a note of the dimming level, then manually enter it in the Scene afterwards. This should be a simple fix in a future update, but will it happen? A little more thought would make this a killer app and system. Right now, I’d say we’re at 3 out of 5.

This works great!!!

This device is awesome ?? perfect ?? for older Property

False advertising

LG no no

Dimmer says they work with smart things. Says needs bridge or hub. Well Samsung is a hub for all other brands but you have to buy the stupid Lutron bridge also to link to that hub. Lutron is behind the times. Get out of the stone age and stop trying to have a proprietary system Lutron. I will have to go return this and go to another store and buy a GE zwave switch now. Wasted my time.

Mostly what I need

I’ve absolutely LOVE my Casetá line of products and the Apple Home integration (and the ability to work with Alexa when I need it). In the past I’ve been able to utilize the general light pico remotes for other purposes besides just lights, such as using a light remote to operate as a SONOS audio remote. This has been stellar since I don’t want to spend a ridiculously over-priced amount for the same pico remote but labeled for audio. I think you can “technically” use a light pico remote for shades as well. I bring this up because I have recently acquired the Lutron Casetá fan speed control switch and have discovered I am unable to use any pico remote to control this switch. I have the most recent version of the app on 3/11/2019. Help us out Lutron! Thanks.

Great App & System, But....

50 is not enough

I generally love my Casita system. I control a whole house lighting system and a window shade system in one room. The system is reliable, easy to set up and pretty fool proof. My biggest complaint is the limit on the number of Casita devices allowed on the bridge. Currently this number is capped at 50. When you consider that the bridge counts as one and a room with a light and say 3 switches counts as 3, and each window shade counts as one, you can easily run out of devices on the bridge. I have cheated and am currently running 2 bridges on 2 separate email addresses but am then required to separate devices and use two separate iPads to control the system. If Lutron would allow the app to access multiple bridges or sell a bridge with say 100 devices, the system would be perfect.

App is slow and tedious to navigate

dpv1975

The app moves very slowly through the commands (even with using the most advanced IPhone). Adding schedules is tedious. Rather than allow the user to schedule a start (on) and end (off) using one schedule, it forces the user to add two schedules to effectuate an on and off command. The app needs some serious updating.

Mobile app connection drops

Works well at home. Bad experience with mobile app frequently losing connectivity when I’m away from home. Have to reset bridge each time to resolve the problem. Frustrating as I was hoping to rely on the app when traveling.
