I can’t even access any part of the application aside from the feed section. Search, settings, tops, nothing. This is despicable, and the developers should honestly be ashamed of themselves, releasing such a load of crap here. If you’re going to do less than a half assed job at things, there are a lot of other ways to manage it without forcing others to wade through the frustration of your ineptitude.

I should have listened to the bad reviews when they said that you couldn’t access anything but one thing and that was the post. Also when you post things get lost and you can’t scroll down to see them which is really stupid. They need to either fix this app or get rid of it altogether. Very disappointed!

I had the same experience as the commentator before. I’ve been using LJ since middle school and I’d love to continue and keep everything together, but the user interface is abysmal. The app is bare bones with features. All you can do is post a short entry and then the text won’t scroll so you’re typing blind- so that’s actually useless unless you paste it from a text app. You can’t change or upload icons or even look at old friends journals. It’s clunky and difficult to access your archive. It’s sad for me to think that so many of my memories are just stuck in this mostly defunct site. I can only hope someone makes a better client for LJ, because the official one doesn’t seem to be doing anything.

I love LJ and have had a journal for the longest time. I enjoy journaling and it’s a place I’ve gone back to over the years even with all the new blogs out there. Buy this app is horrible. It’s not user friendly at all. While posting, it will sometimes cover the area you are typing so you have no clue what you’ve wrote. It also doesn’t scroll easily so it’s not easy to search for other journals. This app needs a huge improvement.

The last update was 2 years ago and it shows. It’s a great website but this app lacks options. My biggest complaint is that any time I go back up to the beginning of the text I can’t scroll back down. I have to save what I’m writing and then edit to go back. I do it about 20 times with each entry. I absolutely hate it. 1 Star.

At 3.0.7 and no badges?

I just started using LiveJournal two days ago. I needed an app for my iPhone, and this app seemed to be the biggest game in town, what with all the boasting that the developer does in the app description. I don’t know if there are any better LiveJournal apps here in the App Store — I couldn’t find any — but I am surprised that this app is at version 3.0.7, and from what I can tell, it does not offer badges on the app icon. That is the main reason I downloaded it; that is, so I can quickly glance to see if there was anything new. The Instagram app has the very same design flaw. I also see there has been no development on this app in a year. Is it abandonware? If not, I hope that the developers will seriously consider adding badges soon. Thanks!

I didn’t care about the bad reviews the app had because I just needed this to make simple posts. omg, it manages to screw that up. While writing, text will disappear. I don’t mean it goes missing (although this did just happen to me; I lost so much). I mean you can’t see it. Your screen is blank. But if you touch the screen properly you may get to see your text again. Maybe not. At a certain point it also refuses to scroll. If you write more than a paragraph you’re both unable to view it and unable to scroll. Nearly worthless.

I love lj. I’ve had a journal since high school and I’m 29. But this app is a joke. I really miss how they used to have a passcode you could put on it so that if someone found your phone they at least wouldn’t be able to read your journal. Well, now you can just get right into it. Also, this app lacks a lot of things that the website allows like changing journal styles, uploading icons, searching for other journals. It’s way too basic. Today when I went to update my journal, the page wouldn’t scroll and my keyboard was covering my text where I was typing. I couldn’t scroll down far enough because it wouldn’t let me and even if I keep typing it still stays below the keyboard. Now I have to write my entries in Apple notes and paste it to my journal. Come onnnn lj!!! You’re better than this!!!
