so long mercury batteries...

...hello free iPhone app. I'm shooting a test roll right now in my old Konica, but all the exposure settings were congruent with my Nikon D7000 exposure meter. I will amend to 5 stars if my photos turn out!

Not sure what all the fuss is about

BeSublime

Pretty UI and seemingly accurate results (still testing that claim but so far so good!) - what more do you people want? ;) Thanks for making it free, and thanks for taking the time to create a decent UI!

Useless for cine

mmorlan62

Hmm. Doesn't allow the most common shutter speed for cine cameras - 1/48th - or 1/50th, for that matter. Could use a lot more shutter speeds.

Crash

kitkat1589

I really want to use this app but all it does is crash! I can't even use it once before it goes down! Please fix it!

Nice but just one suggestion.

Classic cameras

Suggest adding: spot or average metering. The area offered is too big to spot and too small to average. Using iOs 5.01 No, it didn't crash.

Clean interface

Joe the Plumber_4498

Decided to try this one out since pocket light meter changed their interface and I don't like it as much anymore. This one has a nice interface, still not as intuitive as the old version of pocket meter. I agree with other reviews, I think the averaging area is too big. Wish the +/- buttons were a bit larger too. But, it's my go to app now.

Good but could be improved to be great.

Light Meter Free works well enough. I bought all the other light meter aps and kept this one. Cost me .99 cents to get rid of the ads on the free version. Would have bought the developer a pint if there was a button to make the "tips" go away. I'm a pro photographer and want a simple clear meter. (on an iPhone 4s) Pros: Shows the biggest photo behind the exposure values of any metering app. Two exposure values can be locked and stay locked and set even if you turn it off and on again. (I lock ISO and f22 and it gives me a shutter reading) EV can be adjusted +/- 3 stops on the settings screen to emulate a filter factor, or adjust over or under exposure. Aperture AV or Shutter Priority TV modes. Screen image can be held/frozen by taping. Clear numbers and easy to set. Cons/improvements: Needs a switch to turn off the "tips" Would be great if the exposure data window was even smaller allowing more photo behind. Don't need EV value AND shutter+aperture so I'd like to turn one or the other off and have more room on screen. Dreams: Button to make meter/preview image Black & White (wow that would be great- previewing for black and white film photographers) Add a single-button one-second metronome for long exposures and you've got the best meter app around. Add the compass direction the camera is facing... that would be cool. Have a single button at the top to capture the screen to the photo album that uses location services to tag the location of the photo for later reference.

really like the app but flawed

disoculated

i really like this app and have used it for hundreds of shots on my yashica tlr. only complaint is that meter will not read until ad has loaded, and i shoot a lot in rural areas with no service.

Not bad; need improvements

UI is nice looking. A and T modes are intuitive. EV value changes relative to ISO value, which is wrong. Shutter speed increment is 1 EV; aperture increment is 1/2 step; ISO value increment is 1/3 step. It'd be nice to select and have a consistent value increment.

Ehh

Rockstar1156

It's ok but off a stop. Adds are annoying.
