Basic UI Features Missing

cEmZBrhi

Running on my iPad, this app doesn’t make full use of the screen area. Editing book entries requires working through a tiny window into the full edit form. And it remains in portrait mode regardless of how the iPad is turned.

Keeps crashing

Echoliam

After manually entering more than a thousand pre-ISBN titles, the app crashes every time I search a new title to add. Need to find a new app. :(

High Potential, Glitchy

@ny@2011

I love that the App is fully free. No trick fees or upgrades necessary. I love that it has flexibility. The flexibility needs some work. Adding Categories: the pop up box is not visible without fidgeting with zooming. The font while adding categories is super tiny and difficult to see. It would be nice to be able to delete unwanted/accidentally added categories. I have some categories that are duplicates because the app was slow to save so I clicked “save” again and it created duplicate categories. Book Covers: Also, it won’t allow me to choose covers that other users have uploaded, I either have to either use the blank covers or upload my own. New Books: I have yet to figure out how to completely add a new book to the database. Book Titles: When I attempt to edit the titles of books, it saves it in the editing screen (the way that I typed it in) but it doesn’t carry over to my library. Searching for Books: The barcode scanner is wonderful! The manual search could use some work. I’d like to see it broaden search results, providing more results. The way the search is currently, requires a guess and check to find the book that I am looking for. Typing in the whole title brings different results from typing the author vs typing part of the title. It is not consistent. Searching the barcode numbers manually works very well, unless it’s an older book. I have added over 300 books in a few days. I do love the app!! Please consider these updates. Thank you! Update: I’d also like for the tags created by others to also appear in my library.

Disconnect

It keeps disconnecting frequently and won’t let you log in again.

Library Thing is great, but the app is not

Haloedrain

I like the service generally, but the app only has a tiny fraction of the functionality, and what it does have does not work well.

Decent But Limited

asta2001

This app is very good for bibliophiles. The amount of information and flexibility of submitting book covers or jackets is better than most apps. I have two major concerns: the cataloguing datasets, though extensive, are limited with older imprints. The addition of another database such as OCLC Classify would be helpful for those of us with extensive libraries which use DDC or LCCN numbers. Also, for those of us with extensive libraries already catalogued in more limited apps, a .csv import feature would be welcome instead of having to scan each book again into the Lubrary Thing database. Otherwise, this is a nice program for my use. And you can’t beat the price: free.

So badly want to give 5 stars

Fadedlikeastar

This app is incredible, has about 96% of the features I want (including a bunch I didn't even know I wanted!), And makes it very simple to add books. However, the rest of the features (I.e. adding catalogues, tagging, etc) are very cumbersome to access. You can't do it right from the app, it opens a web based window which is difficult to navigate, with tiny text, and pop up windows that move outside your field of view. One last feature I'd love to see (besides editing catalogues and tagging from within the app) is Library due dates. You can add which library you borrow a book from, and can add dates for when you received it, read it and finished it. But I wish you could add the return date, and possibly even receive a notification. Adding a sliding scale showing the percentage read when returned would be cool too. Despite these issues, this is one of the best inventory apps I've come across, and therefore I'm still giving it 4 stars. I'd immediately jump it up to 5 if I could edit book details and add/reorder catalogues from within the app. Thanks for the great app, looking forward to future updats!

Love this app!

Wondering how to catalog your library? Look no further. Have used this outstanding application for years now, and just love it! I seem to collect applications and have literally hundreds, but this is one of my all time favorites. Easily does everything you would want it to do. Thanks to the developer

Almost Perfect

The sources to find media is great, the barcode scanner works perfectly, you can keep track of books; music and films, and the searching for titles is good with a little bit of hiccups. However, I too find it cumbersome to have to create new catalogs and manipulate the titles in the website. If those aforementioned concerns could be remedied I would definitely be fully satisfied with this app and would give it five stars.
