Library is too limited...

Kiwi671

My personal home library consists of hardback books, paperback books, DVDs, VHS tapes, CDs, etc. I would like to see the ability to add different categories in this app. The BIGGEST issue I have had so far is the app dropping off entries. I scan and save an item but when I look for it later, it isn't listed anymore. This is becoming a huge issue as my library grows and I depend on this app to know what I have and what I still need. Update: I had to delete all of our (~2k) movies out of LT, because the list was never completely accurate. I have downloaded another app to track our collections of everything but books. The updates that this app DESPERATELY needs are: ability to personalize categories, a loaned to tracker, and the ability to see more detail, such as whether a book is a paperback, hardback or ebook. Excellent, if web-based

Aktariel

This is *the* catalogue app for book nerds; the amount of data that can be entered is insane. I have just enough old/rare books that entering them manually in something like Delicious Library is a hassle; LibraryThing handles them all with aplomb. Also users of the mobile app apparently get a free unlimited membership, which is also rockin (if a bit worrying about how they manage to stay in business). I wish it was a bit more touch friendly when editing metadata, and had the option to cache my catalog offline so I can check it without needing service, but it works excellently otherwise.

Excellent

Bmacshara

Perfect catalog for the books you've read. I've been using it for years and never read a book they couldn't find! Very easy to use. Definitely recommend!!

Wow! I’m loving it!!

JazzNomad

I decided to try this app to get my overwhelming family library organized and get rid of some stuff. I am loving it, to the point that I’m worried that I am getting addicted!!! And all this for free ?? Really easy to use once you get the hang of it. What is not clear, and evident from the reviews, is that you can log in to the LibraryThing.com site and make many more adjustments and configurations...like additional collections, etc... I found that out accidentally. So, many of what people are griping about the app not providing can be done in the website and those updates apply to the app immediately!!!

Camera no longer works

HRH Mary

Must I delete and reload this app to make it work again on my iPhone (7, latest version of iOS)? If must, will all the titles I’ve recorded be deleted forever?!?

Got this app just to use their tag mash search function

Shells7894

It’s completely unhelpful. Yes, I can sort of tagmash search, but it only brings up a few options, when their website gives tons. It also doesn’t provide descriptions of the books at all. How am I supposed to know if I’ve found what I’m looking for or not?

Working well so far

TabbyRT

I have had little trouble scanning books in via my phone. For loaning, I plan to mark the book in my Loaned Out collection and use the private comment to mark who has the book. Mostly needed this to keep track of homeschool curriculum and associated books. I recently purchased another book I already owned. ? LibraryThing will help if I remember to check my catalog first.

Not enough credit

Im.japril

So i have a massive book and dvd library and have been searching for something to replace the app i had before sadly nothing had even come close until i found this app. The scanning works great and there are very few titles it is not finding. I have seen on previous reviews that they wished there was a way to separate out and make your own collections and there is just not thru the app, u need to log onto the website to had and change things on the app. I am very happy with this app and hope the creators keep it running!

Collection crashes app

Shane S., North Coast USA

The functions on the app are minimal. Anything you really need to do, other then scanning books, you have to do on a computer. The biggest fault is that if you choose “collections” the app crashes each and every time I use it.

Useless

FishieNut

If you cannot manually add a book, it is useless. How do you recognize four volumes of a series and not the fifth? Useless.
