Amazing game-changer.

BassGuy93

Initially I was attracted to the possibilities of this app. I was excited that the *first* multitouch interface (the OG Lemur) is available on my iPad for practically nothing. The original was about $2500. The short version: you get out of this what you're willing to put into it. If you're into running plugins in a DAW and rinsing presets because hard work is discouraging, then head over and grab a copy of sylenth. If you're interested in interacting with your music or sound in new and innovative ways then this is all you need. Yes the scripting language can seem daunting at first, but like anything worth doing, you'll get out of this what you put into it. If your goal is to sound like the current beat port top 100 then look elsewhere. There's a good reason envelope pushing artists like Amon Tobin, Richard Devine, and autechre use software and hardware like this, kyma x, reaktor and Max 6/7, to do what they do. There's a reason Martin Garrix and DJ Snake don't use these tools. The question you should ask yourself is, which kind of artist do you want to be? Get this app if you want to create something unique and real. 4 stars only because Mira makes interaction with Max easier, but there are still PLENTY of amazing uses for this revolutionary software. Dig In, and be rewarded.

Best MIDI App

Hello Motto dotto

If you're a beginner and looking for a midi piano app for dummies, then look elsewhere. This app is so deep and limitless that you'll think twice about your old way of doing things. Truly evolutionary.

Hope you have a lot of time and money and energy to waste!!!

Countless hours trying to find info on setting this thing up on config that works with Windows 8. I hate this app and would love to get my money back.....

This is not a music app

First off, I am not new to music production, DAWs, MIDI, or synthesis. This is misleading to sell this as a music app, because it's not. It is a computer programmer app. It is all scripting, you will find nothing in the manual that even puts anything in any kind of musical context whatsoever. There are limited, if any resources that even explain how to do one useful thing with it as it pertains to making music. If you want to make music, don't bother, if you want to do coding then This is for you.

A Seriously Powerful Tool

Deems19

Lemur is hands down the most powerful and useful tool for music production and live performance. TouchOSC is the only other app that really compares at all and it doesn't even come close to matching the power and functionality of Lemur. I have very few issues with the latest version of Lemur. Liine has done an amazing job updating and supporting the app. But new users beware. Lemur isn't for the faint of heart. If you have no prior experience with programming or scripting Lemur will be very challenging to pick up. You will be able to use most of the basic features without prior scripting experience and you can take advantage of the built in templates to get an idea of what Lemur is capable of but you won't be able to leverage the truly powerful features until you take the time to fully understand how scripting with Lemur works. But Lemur is an extremely worthwhile investment to anyone willing to take the time to learn all the ins and outs of this tool. TouchOSC is probably a good place to start if Lemur seems daunting to you. But I highly recommend this app to any serious producer/performer. You won't be disappointed if you know what you are getting into.

Mind blowing Potential

If you know what this app does and is about, then you know it is the best 25$ you will spend in your studio. Heck, I bought my iPad specifically for Lemur.

Constantly crashes and hard to set up

marcrosenberg

Looks promising but don't waste your money! Lemur crashes a lot and is difficult to set up. Discouraging for live use to say the least.

Awesome

I wrote a long review but it didn't work out so... Yea this is the best thing out there IMHO. You will not regret it whether you work with midi and especially if you work with osc oh my god. I don't know what people are talking about, but if you have a little knowledge of MIDI controllers, lemur is no problem and way easy to set up. And with some more knowledge you can literally build any kind of production/performance interface you want, without having to learn C. Forum and Facebook page are very helpful, buy items! Best controller app without comparison

Worth it for LiveControl alone...

rincon6

This app has changed my interaction with Ableton Live completely. There is a bit of steep learning curve and quite some effort required to get things up and running properly. But, don't give up, because it's worth it. I'm slowly moving away from hardware controllers due to this app.

Way too complex

agarner32

I'm sure for some this app is great, but it's not designed very well. I read the manual, watched videos and read forums and still couldn't get it to work. I managed to get it connected, but that's about it. I don't doubt that for expert Mac users who know something about networks the app is great. I had high hopes, but I think an app should be designed for average users who don't have hours to fuss with it. I got Logic Remote and it worked with very little effort. I'm not alone on this - search the internet.
