Better than most books

Great app to learn. Advanced learning logic quizzes you on what you have troubles with.

Great so far!

I really like how it reminds you to review.

Great

Wish it was faster with the sound but great learning.

Ok, lots of room for improvement

Paid version has many lessons, but there are a few missed opportunities for a much better learning experience. For example, when you pick the right word, the word is pronounced and then the app immediately advances to the next screen. Being able to advance manually to the next screen would help a lot to let the user dwell on the correct answer, along with a replay button to play the pronunciation. Back and forward buttons (at least one screen) would be good. Also, pronunciation buttons next to each of the several compound words on learning screens would help lots. In the current version, the test screens that follow them are pure trial-and-error for beginners.

In-app purchases broken

Took my money, still no paid content. Tried email, no response a week later.

Good app but needs improvement

This app is good but it doesn't have stroke order and there can be a lot more things done to improve understanding of kanji such as using them in sentences. For now please add stroke order

Good but needs work

I've been using the paid version for several months, from Level 5 up to Level 3. Overall, this app offers the best learning setup for me--simple, direct and not overly complicated with long explanations. However, like other users said, there's A LOT of room for improvement. 1. The app font should be normal computer type font or at least give users the option to switch. Currently, the calligraphic font means that you won't easily recognize the kanji in other contexts. 2. Each lesson usually introduces 4-5 kanji or combos. The app can get stuck alternating between only 2 (algorithm error?) so that you miss the other 2-3 when learning a new lesson. You can go back and review the lesson later but you won't see the learning lesson again. 3. Every time I attempt Level 3, Group 1, Lesson 51, the app crashes. 4. Designers should add a Review button per group and per level (not just for "needs review" and all kanji). 5. Dictionary should be searchable by English definitions. 6. The App Support link doesn't connect. Are the designers still in business? Anyway, I like the app, and I'd buy it again. BUT there are some serious issues that haven't been addressed.

Love this, so helpful!

I am so happy to have these apps! I am studying Japanese with Duolingo and when they introduce kanji they often neglect to provide pronunciation or a definition. And there is nowhere to complain about it! This app fills in those gaps for me. The kanji are introduced in a standard order in both so I can learn the kanji here when I am not clear about them in Duolingo. Also I use these apps on airplanes to study when there is no wifi and Duolingo is unavailable. My son learned a bunch of Japanese studying with me on our last flight. すごい!大好きです!
