Figured it out...

Kello’s instructions in the app indicate that some mics do not have the sensitivity to pick up the signal very well. This is true. Ironically, the iPhone 5S has an excellent microphone and here’s what I found worked with the strongest, most stable signal: Hold the phone’s microphone surface 3-4mm ABOVE the surface of the watch (I went through the crystal since I can clearly hear it better with my own ears through the front than the case back)… I was able to get a very clear reading that matched within fractions of a second to the Witschi timings I’ve had from certified techs.

Now nothing?

Had a 4star from me, but I got a new Tissot T-Race, bugger ticks like a clock, can't Get a read. Tried iphone mic, ipad mic, external Sony headphone mic, buried under pillows and in bowls, cupped in my hands, taped the mic to it...yadda...yadda...nadda! Think we need an electronic stethescope? ************************************** Use the iPhone5 built in mic. Got it to work fine with my "loud" Clock and external headphone/mic. Clock is more accurate than EVER now. It couldn't find a "pulse" to measure in my Automatic Seiko wrist watch l, 7S36 movement, UNTIL I ditched the external mic, took the iPhone 5 out of the case and used the built in mic. Now recommendations to creators: - the reading needs to be "averaged" over a minute or two. Not sure how it's done now, but the reading was +/- 10 and seemed to fluctuate steadily between them. - Would like to see the "instantaneous" reading and the "average over xx amount of time...perhaps since measuring began? - AND if you can, make audio pickup better, and/or find and recommend mics that have been tested to work with "most" watches.

Waste of money

Using iPhone 5s and have tried everything including contact microphone and can't get it to pick a single watch, and I'm trying it with quite audible American pocket watches. I get a decent recording of same watches with the standard voice memo app. Very disappointed.

This App Dose Not Work

I have tried know for 20 minutes to get this app to work. I have tried using professional recording microphones to record a signal and still had no luck. Save yourself the money and DONT BUY THIS APP !

Use the flat tab

I struggled for several hours to pick up a signal using the iPhone ear buds. That is not the microphone, as I discovered, the flat piece with the (+) (-) sign, underneath lies the microphone. Once I found this, the app works. How accurate, I can't say until a few days pass. I adjust a Rolex 1225 and a Seiko 7006. At the moment they seem to be keeping time at a constant rate..

Works after finding sweet spot.

At first I could not figure out how to get it to read, I put the microphone of my iPhone 5s on every side of the watch but only was able to get a reading when I put my phone standing up on top of the face of the watch. It only took me 10 minutes of reading and adjusting to get to run within one second for 24 hours. I am setting a Seiko 5 with a 4R36 movement and after 18 hours it is off by a half second. It is best to hack and stop the heart and restart it, it seems to pick up the adjustment better, otherwise it will show a algorithm of fast and slow for 10+ minutes and narrowing to settle in every wave up and down in speed. This is normal. It might be a good idea to let it sit for 30 minutes after adjustment to re read to get a more accurate reading. It is expensive but much cheaper than a real watch regulator and saves the guessing.

Great app

Kello works great on a lot of my watches, except for some of the Chinese movement. I get a lot of signal unstable. I would like to see this app with some type of fine tuning for the amplification slider kinda gets away when removing finger. DEVELOPER! Plz add that function. Over all very happy with this app.

Great app once you can get it to work

I was occasionally able to get the app to work with my iPhone 5s using the internal mic but never with the mic/speaker cord. When I could get it to work, the app seemed to be very accurate. I tried the app on my iPad 3 and found it works much much better. The combination that did the trick for me was, as mentioned previously, using the iPad 3, a mic/speaker cable from a Galaxy 5S (no idea where my iPhone cable is but it would probably produce similar results) and placing the watch atop a closed cell neoprene mousepad and a cloth covered foam watch band separator that came with a watch case. I have used the app to regulate four mechanical watches so far and as another reviewers noted, you have to find the "sweet spot" on the watch, which was in a different spot one each timepiece. On a submariner style, it was placing the mic on the crystal, on a day/date watch it was on the back of the case, on another it was the side of the case around the 9 o'clock position, etc. The app appears to be very accurate when you find the combination of hardware that works for you. Good luck!!

Don’t waste your money

Totally not worth $8.99 … I wish there was a trial period before you have to pay. I have three automatic watches and this app doesn’t work for any of them. If by some chance lightning strikes and it is able to pick up a signal, the variance of that signal is so wide that it’s pointless; Anywhere from +2 seconds to +20 seconds. Yeah, not so useful. I want my money back.

DO NOT BUY THIS USELESS APP!!! Can I have my money back?

After trying unsuccessfully 50 different ways with 3 different very high quality mics and a watch that ticks so loudly that the airport keeps calling to tell me to keep the noise level down, I just deleted this overpriced garbage from my phone. 10 different watches yielded the same result - nothing. I should have listened to the overwhelming number of negative reviews. Absolutely NOTHING about this app works. It auto-determined the frequency of the very same movement at three wildly different numbers. I don't see how this could be useful to anyone. Thank you, Coldflower Design Corp. for basically stealing my money. You need to change the name of your company to Crapflower. If you're the kind of person who loves to throw away $9 on an app that only says 'SIGNAL UNSTABLE' over and over again - then this is the app for you!
