Great for beginners but could be better

**update** They’ve done a major update to the app and so far the songs are buggy (lyrics and/or chords not matching up with the music), my playlist is gone, AND, most importantly to me, there doesn’t seem to be a way to eliminate the melody when the song plays or a way to transpose up or down. The primary reason I use this app is to sing with it, and I hate hearing a cheesy melody in the background, and some of the songs don’t work in my vocal range so I need to transpose them. Hugely disappointing. Pros: huge song list, easy cords, ability to take out the melody or percussion when playing, slow down the tempo, easily pause the song, a few ways to tune, ability to transpose up or down Cons: I found the strumming tutorials to be lacking. Consequently, strumming is my weakest skill. Limited chords - only the most basic. This ends up making some songs sound off. Please add some 7 and minor chords! They irregularly update the song list so it will be months and months without any new material. Give us the hits! There are a ton of typos in the lyrics. The price is quite high. Every time you go between the app and another app, it displays the logo when you return. If you sing, oftentimes the performance rating at the end is inaccurate. Also - the app inspires laziness. I haven’t memorized one song, despite playing for a year. Recommend adding an exercise to play without chords displayed

Tuner works. The rest is now spam.

Badness now, super lame DLC and spam time.

Less is More

I liked it much more before the latest “update.” Can’t find my playlists. The screen is much more confusing (too much going on). The “see results” from your performance makes no sense. Should have left well enough alone. Gonna look for a different uke tutor.

New Tuner Failure

Poshygirl

I use this app mainly for the tuning function for both my Tenor and Baritone ukuleles. Before, it would tune them beautifully and was extremely accurate. It also had a chromatic tuner available. With the new update, the tuner is way off. I can strum one string and have the same tone each time and the marker jumps from too low to too high. Even if I try to tune to what the tuner says it is inaccurate. This is unfortunate because in my opinion Kala had the best chromatic tuner on this app.

This December update destroy the app!

The Kala app was perfect until the recent update, is so closed for a beginner and no help from the app, before the update the app was more welcoming and it was easier to use, the chords tutorials and notes tutorials were amazing, that’s gone now unless you pay I guess, what you get now is so little from how perfect it was before. There are allot of missing ukulenny tutorials from the app after the update, for me is a huge downgrade even the design and the ui is bugged.

No chromatic tuner

Kay123ej

I’ve been using this app for years and have never had a real issue with it until this update. It’s really sad that they’ve taken away the chromatic tuner and only offer three tuning “modes”(standard, alternative, or low g). Finally had to switch to a different app for tuning :(

Update is not the best

breukdog

This app was great! Before the update. The update ruined everything. The tuner doesn’t work and the songs are buggy.

I love ukulele

It’s greater than anything

Updated app just keeps crashing

Jeannethequeen

I LOVED this app. Took a little break from playing over the December holidays and came back yesterday to find the app had updated and now just continuously crashes on my iPad. I e tried re-installing and offloading other apps to no avail. The iPhone version is just way too small and cluttered to play from. I’m so bummed. Is there anyway to revert back to an old version so I can still play?

Misleading app

Rambling Rabbi

It says free all over the place, even on the page that is trying to get me to purchase a subscription it says free access to all songs… Free only if you pay? Be up front right away rather than trying to hook your customers in and then charge for a subscription. It looks like a great app but I don’t like to be mislead.
