Great VPN!!

Jayjay434

I’ve been using IVPN for a couple years now and have had no issues whatsoever. They seem to be trustworthy and do not keep logs. You won’t be disappointed.

Not sure what going on with their iOS billing as of late...

Been using them for awhile. The good: - hardblock mode is awesome!!! - (just remember to turn it off for Spotify, Gmail, etc); - option to use your own DNS; - consistently adding new features & improvements; - one of the first to implement Wireguard, which lately has been flawless (the only protocol on iOS from any provider I’ve personally experienced that consistently honors on-demand settings on cellular); - multi-hop OpenVPN; - physical servers instead of virtual (which most others use - go to amazon with your current VPN without signing in and see ship to - virtual vpns will show an exit that’s not the one you’re using); - iOS App is decent and feature rich; - Support via e-mail elicits prompt replies (w/in 12-24hrs), courteous & usually effective at resolving issues. - price has decreased since I started with them. The iffy: inbound connection attempts from various non-iVPN entities (watch your inbound utun firewall logs on a computer). Support says this should not be happening, yet as of 12/19 it still is. I just block all inbound, but for some this may not be tenable (ie gamers, enterprise users, etc). The bad: To sign in to your account area on website, you have to enter email (user id is not an option). All communications with support are via email. There is a chat button on their website, but it often shows support offline. I can understand that VPN providers get flooded with noob freakouts and to effectively man a live chat, with the current exponential increase in VPN usage, would take a small army. For general web use, this is a great service. For anything more sensitive (ie you’re targeted - jounalists, etc), you may want to wait for the 2nd more thorough vetting (1st one - no logs - they passed, but so did Nord...) by independent organization, which is in the works. Lately (note 12/19), iOS billing is borked (no renew subscription button as before -deleted & redownloaded app to no avail on 3 different iOS/iPadOS devices). Support says they will release a new version to rectify. Overall this is the best paid VPN that I’ve tried considering all of the features, especially for iOS.

Ok

It’s decent, I like all the functionality. The most frustrating is when the vpn is connected and I lock my phone or my phone has been locked for a while and I unlock it; the vpn spins and can’t connect. It just hangs and then I have to disconnect and reconnect. Also, if you try and disconnect from vpn and you’ve labeled a network ‘untrusted’ you can’t manually disconnect without first leaving the network. Overall, it’s just easier to use OpenVPN using your IVPN cert.

Continuous connection issues

Reliability hasn't been there recently. Pretty troubling - steer clear until acceptable service is restored.

Battery drain

Cromag2

I’ve used this app and service for a few years. Firstly, this app and VPN service seems to work well for the most part. I do get annoying lag that is probably from the VPN during peak times but I’m not sure (though connection seems better when disconnected). Lately I’ve used the app a lot less on my iPhone 11 Pro because I notice a large drain on the battery when connected, even overnight. Hopefully it’s something that can be patched in the app, as they are very good at updating it.

Needs trusted network support

Internaut

More than half the time, my devices are connected to my home network, which I consider trusted, I need this app to know which ones are trusted and automatically turn the VPN off. This can’t be that difficult? Is it?

I ? Your IVPN

IVPN is very good.

Anonymizer Refugee

Signed up after Anonymizer quit the VPN biz. Easy to use, but frequent “can’t connect to server” messages on iOS. Mostly use Atlanta server from N. Florida.

Reliable and *fast* VPN

Mr. F reviewer

This app getting better and better swiftly. The new version adds automatically fastest server selection. It is great! I’ve started using IVPN a few months ago, coming from a long time use of Encrypt.me/Cloak (~ 5+ years). I decided to try a new VPN because I was having to turn off on bad connections. Thew new version adds auto-secure on untrusted WiFi! Since I changed to IVPN everything has been great, it literally made an unusable shuttle WiFi when Encrypt.me was connected to a working with IVPN. Being able to switch server locations and VPN protocols also help *a lot* on some of the bad WiFis.

Speeds have slowed

Disc0 bliss

Can never get green server speeds anymore. The Mac app won’t keep a constant connection without dropping and then needing a restart to reconnect. What happened to live chat? Is that now permanently gone? Everything about this service was very good up until the end of January ‘19. Now, I am starting to research a new provider for when my subscription is up. I echo the review who says IKEv2 is needed - for Mac & iOS. I’ve set it up manually on MacOS following the online instructions but cannot get it to connect ever. It works ok manually on iOS but why have iOS or Mac apps without IKEv2? Makes little sense...
