Please note that this app is intended to be used for entertainment purposes and as a demonstration of the technology. It is not intended to be used for the diagnosis of disease or other conditions, or the cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease and should not be used as a medical device. We are working to develop fully certified iPhone apps that may be used as medical devices in the future.
Developed in collaboration with cardiologist researchers. Used by cardiologists for research on heart disease as described in the Journal of Medical Devices. For best results:
- Press the microphone in the bottom of an iphone to your chest. A good place is the apex of your heart (below your left nipple).
- Place the microphone directly against the skin, not through a shirt.
- Take the iphone out of its protective case if you use one.
With practise you should be able to find a wonderful clear sound. Shake the iphone to hear the last 9 seconds. Press the share button and you can email the audio to anyone you like! Press the left arrow to see the filter window and change the low pass filter as you record. Go to Settings and modify the amplifier gain or initial filter settings.
WARNING! It takes time to learn how to listen to your heart. You may need to watch the youtube videos. Don't give up! If you are patient, this app will help you to learn the necessary skills. It takes physicians years to learn how to use stethoscopes correctly and the iphone microphone is smaller than a conventional stethoscope diaphragm. You cannot place the microphone randomly and expect to hear your heart - you must place it very accurately. To hear your heart you must learn where to listen!

I, like another, made a gamble. I have an iPhone 4S and bought this app for .99 cents. Want to know what happened? Nothing. I plugged in. I watched to video on "How to use istethoscope" and you know what happened after that? That's right... NOTHING. I want my money back; it isn't even worth ANY amount of money.

My husband installed correctly, we used the microphone. I have and IPhone 4S. It works good, we can hear each others heart beats. I downloaded it to try and hear my daughter in my belly, but I have not been able to hear her heart beat. Regardless it still works, just need to set it up correctly for those that say it don't work. Lol waste of $.99 cents for y'all, but it works for me!

Terrible. Didn't work. Online videos are mimes. Really no voice directions just dumbo, the mime. Not even 1 star.

I absolutely LOVE this app!! It has worked great for me everytime I use it. I picked up my heartbeat right away. AND was also able to pick up my "expecting" friend's baby heartbeat when we put the phone on her belly. It's so cool! This is amazing technology. I don't know what all these other people are doing wrong as I have never encountered a single problem with it yet. Great tool for the price.

It truly does work. I thought it might be a waste of money (all $1of a waste lol), but it actually is a great tool. I not only can hear my heartbeat and monitor it, but I'm able to actually hear my baby's heartbeat inside of me. It does work. Follow the instructions and have patience. Make sure you use headphones WITHOUT a mic, and sometimes it helps if you lie down in a quiet and relaxing environment. Cheers to the makers of this app!
