Your phone is not your friend
Hostel world has helped me travel on the cheap without putting myself in bad situations. I’ve met amazing people at all the hostels I have stayed at and they all matched their reviews and ratings honestly. It’s been an incredibly useful tool over a number of trips and to top it off it is a beautiful, well designed, user friendly app. Couldn’t ask for any more.

I love Hostelworld, I’ve found rooms around the world at last minute with this app. It’s my go to and the interface is easy to use. I love that the rating is broken up by age and category, but I wish that on the app, I could see the rating specifically about each category. I also wish there was an easier way to contact the hostel staff via the app. There should be an email or phone number (preferably both) listed with each booking. Great site otherwise.

Easy to use, however it does tend to charge a little more than the hostel would if you booked in person (although then you risk the hostel being fully booked).

They do not show negative reviews. Anything under 7.0 is hidden and or removed. I posted a review on a recent stay in a hostel that was less than pleasant (the place has a rating of 8.4!) and they refuse to release my review. People do not see the true ratings of places on this app. Be warned.
