I used to love this app, but now I have paid all this money for yearly membership to not even get to listen to the books I want because they are “locked”. I am not paying extra money to unlock a book that I can read for free, with a membership, with other apps. I honestly wish I could get a refund

Update on my review below 11/21/19: A while back they changed the app from a monthly unlimited membership to a limited membership with a lower monthly cost, but now you have to buy “coins” in-app for more books. The app makes it hard to even buy coins, and therefore became useless over night, VERY annoying! I was paying $10/month before and now it’s only like $4/month, but I’d rather pay for an unlimited option. I’d even pay more than $10/month if it was available. ... The app is very extensive in topics and books. I listen to mostly sales and business books, but have enjoyed several of the biographies and also health books. It was easy to download and navigate. It does have some of the newer titles, but some of oldies are very much goodies! I’d recommend to anyone!

When I saw the advertisement for Hibooks, it said that was like Netflix but for books. But now I need to purchase coins to read a book? That’s on top of the monthly fee. Not cool, Hibooks. Not cool.

Started out as like $10 a month for unlimited books. Now all the crappy books are free and you have to buy anything worth reading with coins. So what the heck is the point of now paying $5 a month if I still then have to purchase books? *update because it doesn’t even work more than half the time now

I was looking to see if I wanted to switch to this app from audible, it said there was a three day trial. However when I agreed to it, it charged me for a year subscription instantly. Not overly impressed.

This app was awesome for several months, but now Hibooks will periodically say that no books are available for 30 days. A countdown clock is displayed if you try to access any books. The first time it happened, they acted like it was a mistake, and the counter went away. Now they blame it on a reset of the library. I don’t care what they call it, it is dishonest and fraudulent. Bye bye to Hibooks.

It’s pretty good then there’s the coins. I’m just trying to listen to books while doing chores around my house. I go to this book club every Monday and I have three weeks to get two books done. Why did they have to make coins whyyyyyyyy!!!!
