Crashtastic.

PMcGCMT

This release of HL is crashy and buggy and needs updated to fix several of its problems ASAP. Design-wise it has needed to be streamlined for a long time now, with a truely functional and intelligent dice roller. Many “not yet implemented” features and functions that probably will never be addressed. Unfortunately I believe this app to be considered by Lone Wolf to be a bonus feature to their main offering and not given enough love compared to their clunky main product, despite the obvious need to embrace changing technology. Also, this $h!+’s expensive.

Unable to connect to license server after latest upgrade

Crmarkie

Installed latest upgrade, and now the app won’t start on my iPad. It requires me to connect to the license server to verify my license (why?..) but fails to do so. Worked after each previous upgrade. Need a fix ASAP!

Good for players, bad for GMs

krshgr

The lack of support for the encounter builder or even combining portfolios is disheartening as someone who mostly GMs. A dark theme as well as landscape support would also be nice (most stands and cases are made for landscape, good for longer games). For players, this is great.

App Crash

Lambogini69

For those posting about App Crashes, try to make sure you don't have any extra apps running in the background. You can close them by double tapping the home button on the iPad. This will show you a list of all the apps running in the background. Shut them down by sliding their screen images up and this will turn the apps off. With that being said the current 10.5 version of the Hero Lab for Pathfinder app shuts down after 4 seconds of running even though its the ONLY app running on my iPad Air. I have posted a message to the Lone Wolf Development forums this weekend but don't expect an official reply until Monday (Nov 3rd).

Always at the game table

Yasumoto

This is amazing- I love being able to use my tablet at during Pathfinder Society games- much less intrusive than lugging around my laptop. Thank you!!

Not worth downloading

enterthedreaming

This is a completely useless app. First, it crashes all the time. Secondly, they use a non-standard way to update the contents of the app. The app just sits there and does appears to do nothing. My iPad keeps locking because it takes so long. Thirdly, it takes way too long for characters to load. Lastly the user interface and user experience just stinks.

You get what you pay for....

Maxxemus57

This is a really buggy, slow and frustrating app. In the span of ten or so minutes it had crashed at least three times. It has all the necessary options, items, feats, and proper information to build a proper pathfinder character, but with such a poor stability, accessing and building the character is close to purely impossible, and needless to say, frustrating. Not really worth it, even if it is free.

Crashes

The update crashes within seconds of opening.

Incredibly detailed, easy to get started

ChicagoJared

I recently started GMing a Pathfinder campaign for my wife and kids (ages 14 and 11). Other than a couple of one-off adventures, they had never played an RPG before, and I probably haven't played one since AD&D 1.0 back in the late 1980s. Hero Lab on the Mac and iPad have made it much easier to keep characters, NPCs, and monsters straight, as well as helping me deal with a slightly different rules system than I remembered.

Expensive.

Moradus

If you were to buy Pathfinder in hardcover, that would set you back about $50. This app effectively charges $20 for the Pathfinder plug in for character creation. And that does not include any of the Pathfinder extensions or modules. If you want any of those, you will have to buy those data packages individually, which range from $5 to $30 individually. In other words, this app can become extraordinarily expensive if you want to use it with any of the expansions. And don't forget, the only thing this thing really does is character creation and dice rolling. Very, very expensive for limited function.
