Works great but needs improvement

Love the app although you can’t hear your personal playlists on Amazon Music.

Great quality sound!

Great quality sound! I wasn’t too happy at first until I realized it was my Wifi that was the problem. Suggestion....add an intercom feature so I can select a room, tap a button to make an announcement. It would be great for parties and events

Please add Qobuz!

Mr. MX

Just updating my review to request Denon add Qobuz HiRes support now that this awesome service is available in the U.S. I have been using a third party app as a workaround to stream Qobuz in FLAC to my Marantz devices, but that is clunky and unreliable. Would love to have native Qobuz support in HEOS. Still one star because still no sleep timer in this app. Here’s my original review from over a year ago ranting about this inexplicable omission: I currently have a $400 speaker on the way that apparently won’t be much use to me. I intended to place it in my upstairs bedroom, mainly to listen to music while I fall asleep. I figured it would be a no brainer that a system like HEOS would have some kind of sleep timer, like the 15-year old clock radio I planned to replace with the HEOS speaker, so I didn’t even bother to look that up. Should’ve done my research because apparently the “no brains” won out. I’m very disappointed and thinking of returning the speaker because of this mind boggling omission. Last night I was all jazzed up about HEOS—I recently got a new Marantz receiver that includes it. Tried it out for the first time and was blown away by the sound quality compared to just streaming from my phone with AirPlay and, to my mind, ease of use of the app. Stayed up way past my bedtime grooving to tunes. Woke up this morning with the urge to order a speaker for the bedroom. Should’ve resisted the urge. Based on the sound quality through my Marantz AVR and the (so far) seamless ease of use with the receiver, I would have given HEOS 5 stars. But I can’t believe that something so simple and obvious as a @*&$# sleep timer is left out. I mean, come on! (My receiver has one, but it’s downstairs, hence the extra speaker for the upstairs bedroom.)

So frustrating

Abebekebese

I got the heos sound bar with woofer and i have been having issues with the speaker and the app since day one. It disconnects on its own and reconnecting is a pain. Right now after 6 months I changed a wifi and here i am Sitting here without darn speaker bc it won’t reconnect and the app is useless.

Terrible

JamesRoy

If I was a VP or CEO for Denon, I would be ashamed of how poorly the software inhibits the ability to use the hardware. When I find one failure mode in the SW, I optimistically try a different method to see if that can bypass the bug. When your product is an audio system, the essential performance is to play audio. Unfortunately, there are many times the Denon software (including this app, but also the software on the receiver) simply won’t play music. “Unable to play media” is the common error. Funny that it can throw this error even when I’m trying to play music off a USB flash drive that is directly connected to the receiver and it worked an hour ago! I truly wish I could return all Denon products and start over.

Useless

Hardware beats Sonos, App does not

Swingin' Siena

I love the sound of the hardware and the price provides terrific value, but the app is clumsy and lacks some helpful and simple features, like sleep timer, alarm clock and AirPlay. A watch version would be great too. Maybe now that the litigation with Sonos is over, Denon will start investing in improving the HEOS technology. I am hoping for better soon.

Needs more love

I love the concept and when it works, it is great. However it seems to stumble over itself, causing horrible amounts of frustration to find one of your amps missing, or the off and on issue of not working in XM streaming, or suddenly zones refuse to group. Just a bit fiddle still in the interface under the guise of looking cool.

Great app; new ux designer might be appropriate

The app gets five stars for functionality. A couple of critical features are awkwardly placed or effectively hidden, so they definitely lose a star for that.

At last

Seamless update. Now my HS1 devices are found by Alexa and work! I have a system with over 16 players and at last they all work with voice control ? Not sure why this isn’t emphasized in the release notes but it makes the investment so much more worthwhile. ...
