Thousand of dollars in equipment between speaker bars, wired speakers with receivers and bridges and high internet speed service are wasted when grouping rooms fails regularly, certain speakers are not found at some times and show up at others, etc. If I could get my AV professional to come and take it all without having to pay him thousands more to remove it all, I would. It’s a complete waste with this app. Be warned! Do not buy HEOS products expecting to use the app to control them with any consistent success.

The speakers are great. The app is horrible and does not perform as described, which really leads to false advertisement as we purchased these so that we could connect rooms and play the same music. You can't group and use other apps, there's no predictability into whether the music will play from Spotify, your iPhone or anything else for that matter. Based upon the other feedback, it's time for Denon to pony up and fix the app.

On the contrary, you have to choose one or the other. You cannot just say, “Alexa, Play ____ on Denon” and have the song play. Alexa will respond, “I can’t play from Spotify music on that device.”

This app was working great for a long time, then all of a sudden when I went to try to play some music it keeps crashing I can’t even choose which music source I want to play without it crashing, please make an update and fix this.

It's a bit temperamental and the denon software does reset my speaker setup and get buggy but man oh man, when it works, it's just great.

I have an AVR-X3400, and the reason I bought it was my past experience with an AVR-1909, which sounded awesome with movies + music. No complaints with X3400 as well, in terms of sound quality, since I’m still using wired speakers. When I saw the advertised app in the manuals, I thought it would be wonderful to give it a try for Spotify and Tidal. Spotify has Spotify Connect, which does not the device vendor to interfere (which is obviously great after the Heos app experience), but when we look into Tidal, I can see that Heos tried to implement music navigation and the look and feel of the app as if the app was built for iOS version 4. (Try to touch the playlist icon when in “Now playing” card, and experience the flip of list or album cover, which is from the days of iOS) We’re not asking you to curate playlists, or copy the whole vendor app into HEOS app, but you’re trying to compete with Sonos! Wake up! This is a connected, app-tified world, and you’re already behind! The only major update to the app is “added support for 2018 series, added support for 2019 series...”. Seriously? You’ll face the inevitable end of a device manufacturer like Blackberry.

When it works it’s great, but with every update I have to set the thing up again. Why, I haven’t had to do that for five years on other apps!

The HEOS app has a slick setup procedure that is no way near accurate for my device. My device has no amber or green lights, and no rear panel switch. Hours of frustration with setup.

I love my music and set up 7 zones in my house and outside on my deck, patio, yard . System works great! Have had it for a year now , just added to more speakers in our screened in porch. I can turn zones on and off as needed , adjust volume and music by zone Love my system
