Kids, this is how it works:
You navigate through the town on your quest to find the hidden words. If you manage to find all of them before the Word Thief has a chance to steal the ones you have found, you will go on to the detective’s challenge. If the Word Thief beats you to it, you will have to recover the stolen words by spelling them.

Either way it goes, it will be a lot of fun learning. Whether you reach the detective’s challenge or you have to practice your spelling a little more, you will earn points toward your detective’s batch. After each round you will be returned to the town menu ready to find more hidden words.

Parents, this is what you might want to know:
The game has built-in “forking logic” meaning that if your child passes the initial word finding challenge he or she will move on to the more tricky and fun detective’s challenge. If your child does not find all the hidden words before the cute Word Thief steals them, he or she will go on to recover the stolen words by spelling them on screen using letter tiles.

Thus, every round consists of two parts; word finding AND detective’s challenge OR word recovery. The game has 24 rounds but game play within each round is randomly generated which creates a unique game experience every time.

The game has three difficulty settings challenging kids aged 5 to 9. Happi & The Word Thief also has built in support for the following languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian. The language can be changed inside the app making it easy to switch back an forth for bilingual children or parents wanting their child to start learning a second language.

So much fun while learning
vindikate

My daughter is a reluctant reader, and usually hates the ed games that have anything to do with reading. This app is different...she was 100% engaged - shouting at the robber....rushing to finish the puzzle before he could steal her words. She usually hates word-seeks...but not this one. I am putting it right up there as a tie with Sushi Monster and Numbers League....her other 2 favorite edu games....finally, a word based game that is just as great as those. (p.s. She is 7).

Check your spelling!!
SC Mom2

Programmers need to check their spelling if they are going to develop a spelling program for kids! Other than the couple of spelling errors (2 so far) , great concept!

Engaging Way to Learn Spelling
The Linville's

Using pictures, word searches, and scrambled words, the Word Thief is a fun way for children to practice spelling. Great replay value at each level.

Fun and Educational

My kids age 5, 8, and 9 enjoy being a spelling detective. I love the different ways they can learn to spell the words and the kids love beating the thief. This app is sure to educate and engage your child for hours. We enjoyed it and you will too.

A winner with kids

My first graders love Word Thief. It is one of their favorite apps. They told me they love it because they get to search for words, there are different levels, they like the mixed up letter to form a word, and they can learn new words. My kids and I highly recommend this app.

Awful

Waste of money

Horrible
LadySweetthang

No clear direction, dumb music, no hints no sense of progress. A waste of money and I'm mad

Great fun!

I love using this app with my ESL students! They are always excited to try and beat the thief and are always happy to see what new badge they will earn. The word unscramble game can be a bit frustrating when the item won’t select, but other than that I highly recommend this app for spelling, letter combination practice and a general good time!

Like the app - Love the thief

this is a fun digital take on the word hunt puzzles you get with the kids menus at a restaurant. If you find all the words before the Wordthief comes you get to do a detective puzzle. The word hunt boards seem to be endless so there is no risk you are running out of puzzles. Recommended!

"Happi" I got this!

Downloaded to keep kids occupied during restaurant visit. Has the classic word hunt puzzles but also a lot more. Kids just love when the Word thief sticks his head out to see what's going on.
