10+ years And counting!

DRRICK308

I can’t remember how many years I’ve been using HanDBase, but it’s probably closer to 15 years and I am so glad that they have continued support as I have use these databases extensively in my home life and my business. The ability to synchronize and back up your data bases with Wi-Fi is fantastic and I believe handy base was probably one of the very first to do so. My only complaint is that if you forget your encryption key you may not be able to recover the database.

Superb, very useful

There is a learning curve but it is well worth it. Frankly unless you, yourself are an iOS programmer there is nothing better available. Period!

Promising app w big limitations

This app has an interesting and long lineage dating back to the palm. Unfortunately it is hampered by trying to support too many platforms and just one or two developers behind it. Pros: extremely cost effective text based database app. Surprising extensibility. Supported by dozens of user supported db templates. Cons: very erratic support. Poor desktop synchronization. Limited logic capabilities. Field limitations. No editable calculated fields. No ability to mass update calculated fields on import. Final verdict: great for the price but you get what you pay for. Ive been building a mini crm app on this. Surprising what i can do. However the pc based client cannot replicate iphone functionality 100% so ive ended up doing all my design and data updates on the iphone. Save yourself money-only buy the desktop version if you either need a backup copy or if you have simple data updates u need to do. Dont think you can enter data on the phone and then mass update it locally because it doesnt work under many conditions. Also recommend you buy the forms designer. Also, note the field logic is limited, you cant override it at the record level, and there is no currency value. There is the ability to create multiple databases and link them together which is very cool.

I really like the app (I remember it from the Palm OS days), but there are glitches such as the text input being placed below the keyboard once the input field exceeds the visible screen. What made me give this 3 stars though is the completely broken encryption feature. It doesn't matter what password I put on it, I can open it up with whatever random character I want despite the set password.

Great app!

I've been using this app for a long time, and it serves me well. I have a number of databases that I use frequently, and this really helps me keep track of a lot of things. If you are not familiar with using databases, this app could be a little intimidating at first. But if you have created and used databases before, then you'll be impressed with all of the capabilities. They have made this a great app!

Excellent, but new features would be helpful.

Good afford

I like this App by it lacks Functions and Operators that I was hoping for and calculations on Time and Date fields are inaccurate but I find the App useful for some things so I give the 4 stars.

Great for my needs.

Since you are looking for a DB app this is worth your time to test for your needs. I am very pleased with this app for the price point I bought it a few years ago for one purpose, to have one database on my iPhone for a particular group of information about Veterans who died in service from my county in Ohio, U.S.A. and that is all I still use it for. I do not use it for math functions as I have engineering apps for that. I received excellent fast support right after I bought the app and have not needed any additional support since. While I have another list on a spreadsheet that builds a webpage on the fly, I can import that list to my phone to be able to display the data in a custom form I created on the phone within the app or on my computer. The form creator adding is a must for me but I admit creating forms on such a small device is a bit tedious but not terribly hard. I have found for me at least, The PC version to crate forms works ok but it does seam a bit "cludgy" but I have not had the issues other users say they experienced. At the time I bought this it was really the only solution for what I wanted available and I have not searched for anything else since I bought it. Since I use 1Password app for passwords I have no need or desire to store passwords in this app. In my view it is worth the time to try it for iPhone database purposes.
