Not good

App was of no value

RfR71

I download the app, paid for a subscription to the city of Assisi, Italy map. Once we arrived and tried to navigate to a plaza by the app it was worthless. It was confusing, slow, and not helpful in identifying the direction we were moving. We resorted to asking directions for a local resident to the tourist store where we obtained a paper map. Never went back to the app again.

Issue Resolved, Used in Carcassonne

There were problems at first, but the Support quickly fixed them. This was a good app to explore the medieval city of Carceconne. It provided walks in and outside the city walls. The walks were scenic, through parks and pedestrian bridges and back into the city.

How to raise downloads by 10 times?

Disorganized, lacking menus, Scotsman narration?

I don’t know where to begin—literally. There is a customary and expected START button for map apps. Not here. Seems silly to make it so difficult to find the upgrade menu so that you have gps functions. All I can tell you is it is not where the diminutive help page tells you. The English video guide is presented in a difficult to understand accent—Scottish, maybe? Nice concept, badly in need of professional UI designer.

Amazing

Don’t look at the negative reviews . This is hands down the best city exploration app on the market . It is good for a single day stay in a city and for those who want to second a few days . You can read about places , get address information , make your own walks . It makes walking tours extremely efficient . Try it and you won’t regret it .

Great functional and helpful app

Very useful app that always worked! Downloaded and discarded several others for lack of functionality—-not this one. Used it as a starting point for seeing sights, and also just as information to look up something we stumbled across. Yes, all of this you can do with Google, but for basic sightseeing of all the most important sites, this app can’t be beat for convenience, accuracy and quick access to info. Plus you can’t always access WiF, this you already have. Especially great if you end up somewhere with a bit of time, want to use it to see something, but don’t want to waste a lot of time to have to plan a route. Perfect for business travel in that sense, or long layovers. We found info about tickets and etc to be correct, too. Added bonus!

Indispensable!

During my trip to Copenhagen, I used the paid version of GPS my city for getting around. It was easy to find attractions and to also save other places I wanted to visit. Probably the best feature, since it was made mainly for walking, is that there is a cone showing what direction you’re going. That way it was easy to tell if I started out the right way. The suggested walking tours were OK. Overall, it made my life easier and my trip pleasant!

Could have been so much more

I had great hopes for this app, and would not have minded paying for the annual subscription upgrade as I travel frequently. Unfortunately my test run in Bern was quite disappointing. First, if you switch to another app, the app resets. So switch to camera to take a picture and you have to start all over again. First you load the app again, then the city package, then load the tour all over again, and guess what? It did not track where you are in the tour so you have to figure out where you left last. Second, several of the points of interest were mismarked, some of them were a block or more away from where the map pointed to. Third, in between the points of interest, the maps seem to take you through the shortest route, but not necessarily the most interesting or picturesque street. Several times, I found myself in back alleys or empty streets that nobody else seemed to be on, even when the next street parallel was extremely crowded and much more pretty. As a result I ended up giving up. While second and third reasons are minor annoyances that you can work around, the first reason (the fact that the app completely restarts every time you switch to take a picture) is unforgivable. UPDATE: I appreciate that the developer took time to respond. Hopefully that's a sign that some of the problems mentioned in my review can be resolved. On the issue of background apps: at the the, I was running only three apps, Google Maps (because of my frustrations with GPSmyCity), GPSmyCity, and ProCamera. There were no other background apps running, as I regularly close all background apps (despite Apple's recommendation to not do that for performance reasons). So I don't think that was the reason.

High hopes but no gps

I loved that I could customize my walking tours but there are locations on the app that are out of business. It also did not have a gps locator do I needed to toggle between this app and a map app. Also the routes do not bring you back to your original location. Great concept but needs more work.
