Found a tiny bug

BitFairyTale

I wrote over on YouTube. Might as well write over here too. I don't know who's update is to blame but it needs fixing. Since updating I can no longer cast YouTube videos to my tv, I never had a problem before. Now it might be YouTube, since I can cast Hulu and Netflix just fine. But for some unknown reason, which frustrates the hell out of me, I can't cast YouTube. Just a tiny bug Google might want to think about fixing.

No connection

So are we just not bothering to connect to ANYTHING now? It started with YouTube not casting, then Pandora, then Hulu, now Netflix and HBO. But that's ok, because now there's nothing even showing up on my "Devices" page. Fantastic. Keep up the subpar work.

Does not work.

Works I guess? But no screen mirroring?

Pneumalight

The app and the device itself work. I don't have to reset anything or mess with it. However, there's no screen mirroring option, or if there is THAT element is not working. The available apps that will stream are incredibly limited. There either need to be more compatible apps or screen mirroring.

Doesn't work

This app used to work like a charm. Now, I can't get the app to detect my chromecast device. And when it does, it goes out immediately. Disappointment.

I'm surprised that so many people can't work or do not understand a user-friendly, straight-forward, solid app. I've had my Chromecast since launch, before it sold out and was on back-order. I've also had every iteration of the app; from the original Chromecast app to this, newer replacement. So, why is this a great app? Simply put, it works. And it works well. The main tab is simple. Has some featured videos in a side scroller and then lists the apps/services you currently have that are compatible with Chromecast. Middle tab is for "Devices". If you have more than one this is where you can select the device to use and also change the backdrop images. Last tab lists all the apps that are compatible. Simple. And each tab retains a Google powered search bar for finding something fast. I can't figure out why the one-star reviewers can't operate this. I've tried to make their mistakes and I just can't do it. It's possible they didn't do the initial setup for the Chromecast by linking it to their network. That's possible. Your phone will recognize the device but nothing would happen if you select it for a video because it doesn't have permission to actually use or move data through the network. The app only sees it because it's physically present and is powered on. Or possibly they didn't realize the little screencast button needs to be pushed in apps like YouTube, Netflix, et al. All in all, this app is a huge improvement over the original. It's faster on video startup and resuming from being paused. Having the apps tab allows me to quickly see if new apps become Chromecast capable. And being able to have a tab just for managing my device is easier than the old way; in the past you needed to log in to google and then open their page in a browser. All in all, this is one of only a few apps that have become more simple and better performing every successive generation. Totally pleased and for legitimate reasons. If you can work a toaster you can do this. Ignore the 1 Star reviews. 1) Follow directions for linking it to your wifi. 2) Get app 3) ???? 4) Profit
