Great tool! Some minor issues.

FireTech811

Caution: YouTube not compatible. Only YouTube kids available. YouTube has some tough to filter content, but lots of educational material as well that are inaccessible once this app takes hold. Also, you can’t use existing gmail accounts. It must be created in the application. More of a nuisance than anything, but could've saved some time not having to start from scratch on our kids accounts. Other than those two minor issues, this app gives a parent perfect control of all the aspects of their kid’s device. Screen time control, location tracking, and content filtering are my favorite features.

Great app to be on top of kids

Was interesting but ... Not working with all Google accounts

Unfortunately this app doesn't work with all Google accounts. Free Legacy Google app account for example won't work. It's the new segregation policy of Google focusing on not free account ? The value to centralize policy across devices disappear because it's not working across account. Unfortunately it will not allow to expend the Google family here... ?

You need to make this compatible with iPhones as well, a friend recommended this to me but my child has an iPhone

Safe and reliable

I have used Family Link ever since my daughter first got her phone. I have never had to use the emergency features but I have tested them and they worked like a gem. I use the locator feature often. I love this app and have recommended it to multiple friends and family.

Doesn't work with chromebook

Only works on android devices

Complete crap

Good idea that is extremely frustrating to use. Bought my 9 year old a Chromebook for her summer break and so she could use it when school starts again. However, it’s been one non stop nightmare to use. It doesn’t allow me to add apps on my child’s account. Doesn’t show that any are available even though I’ve downloaded and setup multiple apps on my own account. I’m unable to green light apps like YouTube Kids to her account. I’ve tried contacting Google support but it’s a black hole. Nobody contacts me back and I’m unable to get ahold of anyone. I’d honestly give this less than one star if I could.

Almost 5 stars

I have been looking for a (preferably free) parental app for my kids. My husband ended up finding this app. I’m so glad Google made an app like this. I’m a big fan of Google and most of their products. I love that this app is free. A lot of the other apps I looked at required a subscription ??. Setup was easy and straightforward. I love the features that it includes and how easy they are to use. I am currently using it on my stepson’s phone and will be installing it on my daughter’s phone as well. While I love the app so far, there are few things keeping me from rating it 5 stars... 1. YouTube is completely blocked. It would be nice to be able to control this myself. YouTube Kids is available though which is a good in between and the settings are customizable. 2. You can only designate one family member (other than yourself) as a parent. While this works for parents who aren’t divorced, this doesn’t work so well with divorced parents. I added my husband and his ex-wife to the Family Group. I’m only able to give one of them parent privileges which totally negates the purpose of being able to add my husband to the group. 3. I love that I can see how much time my kids spend on each app. It would be nice if there was an option to set time limits for specific apps. 4. It would be helpful to have a school time option for those parents who want to restrict phone usage while their kids are in school. You do have the option to manual lock your kids’ phones whenever you want which is what I did when I dropped my son off at school today.
