Superb editor for casual coding

DevavretM

If you work like I do: mount using sftp, edit with sublime and compile and test with terminal, then you are going to love doing it on iPad with this great little editor. Sure it's no sublime text but all the great features are on the roadmap as confirmed by the developer. In fact, the sftp support is awesome as it does not need persistent connections. Here's a quick tip: use an app that supports mosh and go truly mobile. @dev, you don't need to implement mosh in the mini shell. There are free apps in the store and they don't drop connections in 3 mins. However I do have a request: go-to-symbol.

What I needed

Just great editor for the iPad with lots of features. Definitely recommend.

How to run in other languages?

I tried using python and when I pressed preview, it showed the code rather then the print statement. I'll increase it to 5 once I can do this.

Great Development App that has many Features

This is a very impressive app, and thanks for the new update, I love the interactive JavaScript console! The only problem/suggestion I have is when entering commands, etc into the new JavaScript console, and I need to type quotes, the keyboard by default types the rich text “fancy” quotes, not the plain text ones... so I get errors. And actually, now that there is the interactive console, I think it would just be a big improvement to have the extra row of ‘keys, on top of the keyboard, (just like when you’re in regular editing a file mode). Loving this app, thanks again for the update, I will use the js console a lot!

This app is outstanding. It is the most efficient remote development app for iOS. Big thanks to the developer; you rock.

A code editor that really lets you work

I’ve tried several code editors on my iPad, and none have made me as happy as GoCoEdit. It isn’t the prettiest interface you’ll find, but what sets it apart are lots of little things that make it a pleasure to use, like built-in open/save via ssh, and most notably replacing iOS’s cumbersome text selection mechanism with something much more fluid and comfortable for editing code. I haven’t used GoCoEdit for any large projects yet, but so far I am very impressed!

This is a Professional Editor

[Updated Review –– 10/10/2017 –– 5 Stars] Anyone new to mobile web-development won't truly understand just how much of a "Gem" GoCoEdit is, not only performance wise, more notably the cost of such a quality piece of software! This application is truly profesisonal in every aspect. Killer update Chris! I love the new 'JavaScript Playground' type console! Much love for all your hard work and dedication; this update was well worth the wait, thank you!  [Updated Review –– 07/05/2017 –– 3 Stars] Due to the Chris' speedy and positive response to my original review, in a sign of good faith and moral support, I've decided to give +1 star to my original rating; Thank you, again!  [Original Review (+ Edited to correct errors and for greater clarity to original issues.) –– 07/05/2017 –– 2 Stars] ...But I cannot tolerate how poorly the console operates. The firebug console will open, I'll select the command line, begin typing my command, and half way thorough typing... the screen completely 'white-outs'! So, to temporarily solve the issue, I'll fiddle with the 'screen-sizing' option until the console 're-appears'; But then the cycle starts all over agian witht the sceen turning white. Subsequently, after so many repeated cycles of this, the command line moves further and further towards the bottom of the screen where it inevitably finds it's way underneath the 'bottom-screen' toolbar. Needless to say, It becomes completely hidden from view and entirely untargetable Due to this frustrating bug, I began searching for a more optimal JS IDE... stumbling upon, "Coda"; I have to say, their console is absolutely astonishing! As much as I truly enjoy all the textual features GoCoEdit's IDE offers (notably how well you've done with the line wrapping, indentation, and file management UI), Coda's console just OWNS yours. Fix this, you'll get the 5 stars I believe you truly deserver, as well as making this my GoToEditer! Thank you.

Best editor if you like Sublime Text!

ol bro

I use Sublime Text on my Mac, and this is the best editor I have found to allow me to edit files locally or on the server, with an interface very close to Sublime. Thanks for creating it!

Brilliant...

Best text editor for iPad use. I can finally continue my work on my iPad and I’m ecstatic about that. The developer is awesome as well and will respond to your emails. Keep up the awesome work, Christoph!

Amazing

Looks just like sublime text. And connects to a sever really easily.
