GETTING STARTED

• Choose your Preferred Store.
• Accept SCAN IT! terms & conditions.

> The app will not work if you are not connected to the SCAN IT! wireless network.

Once you enter a SCAN IT! store:
1. Enable your phone’s Wi-Fi setting, select & connect to: ScanIt_Mobile.
2. Open the app to start a shopping trip.

For subsequent shopping trips, you MUST turn on Wi-Fi when entering the store to automatically detect the ScanIt_Mobile wireless network to start shopping.

SCANNING ITEMS
Select the green SCAN button: Line up the camera window to the product barcode. The camera will autofocus, scan, add the item to your virtual cart; you can then place it in your bag.

> Be sure to scan every individual barcode. This includes buy one get one free items, multiples of the same product or products that have different flavors. All savings will deduct automatically when you total your order.

SCANNING PRODUCE
Weighed items should be taken to a self-service scale in the Produce department - identified with an easyWEIGH! sign. Select your item & scan the printed label.

SHOPPING CART
Scanned items will be added to your virtual ‘cart’ & can be removed by swiping to delete. Your cart shows your total, total personalized offer savings & item details.

> Certain items may require you to show ID at checkout. Eg: alcohol, tobacco & some over the counter medications. Please hold these items aside once scanned.

CHECKING OUT
When you are ready to pay for your scanned & bagged items, locate any self-checkout or dedicated SCAN IT! lane (at select locations). The checkout process will now transfer your virtual ‘cart’ from the phone to the register.

• From the open Cart tab, tap the CHECKOUT button.
• SCAN the END OF ORDER barcode on the sign near the register monitor.
• The app will update while the register is performing checkout.
• Swipe your GIANT BONUSCARD at the checkout register to transfer your order.
• Follow the prompts on the register, select payment option & complete payment.

> SCAN IT! Mobile users will still require the use of their GIANT BONUSCARD to complete their purchase. This ensures your cart & savings are credited to the right account.

Periodically, you may see a CASHIER ASSISTANCE notice during the checkout process. This is a random “quick scan” as stipulated in the Terms & Conditions. The quick scan process ensures that all items are properly accounted for during a SCAN IT! shopping trip. Your cooperation with this review process is appreciated.

Doesn’t Work

Asks me to login to the Giant Wifi, which I did. But it kept asking me to login. Customer service desk knew nothing about the app. Used in-store ScanIt instead. TOTALLY WORTHLESS!

Ok

It is good if you want to use your phone, but you have to be on giant WiFi (which is very slow)

Please work our all of the kinks before you release this

I entered all of my credit card info at home just so it can tell me at the store that the app is not compatible with I stating purchasing at my location. It instructed me to go to a register where the app decided to not function after selecting pay now. I had to rescan all of my purchases. This is the second time this happens to me. It’s a bait and switch. This app would be so awesome if it did what it claimed.

Terrible User Experience

This app is a failure for me. There’s no support for Apple keychain which is pretty easy to implement from a developer’s standpoint. This may seem like a small detail but it’s a non-starter for me if I can’t even manually copy-paste my password in to create an account. The UI is a mess as well. My only recommendation is a ground-up rebuild.

So embarrassing

I used this app to scan my groceries but the mobile pay didn’t work and I didn’t have any other way to pay. So I walked out of the store without my groceries and reusable bags. I have never been so embarrassed.

Trying to avoid Coronavirus

I went to the store and ask her which apps use, I enter all my Information. I got the app to scan the food items. I went to check out and it was not working. They told me I need to go to self checkout and pay with my credit card. The whole point of all this is to not touch any but the food and my phone. I want to help by not getting the Coronavirus. So this is the time to have it working and teach everyone how to use it.

No good

Would LOVE to use this Now, during Covid19 But it DOES NOT WORK! Tried it at the store, it said I needed some kind of assistance So I went to customer service where the woman behind the desk didn’t know much about the app and didn’t know how to activate it. Said WIFI must be down. Come on AHOLD! Get your act together! This would be a really useful app during this time of social distancing Just scan items, bag them as you go and have it paid for by the loaded credit card. IF that’s how it’s supposed to work, b/c I’m only guessing since IT DOES NOT WORK:(

Awful experience. Shame on you Giant

I’ll give it one star for scanning my food. Giant was packed with people and I thought using the app would be quicker especially during a pandemic. There’s one line to all of the registers and people were not 6ft apart. The employees did not know about this app and kept telling me I had to wait on line. I had to go all the way around an aisle through the bakery to get back on line only to hear the employee laughing and talking to other customers about “she’s trying to use something on her phone to cut the line” I went straight to customer service and told them this was unacceptable behavior. They apologized and said they had to register my card although I already did this step and gave me a $10 gift card. Well I still think this rude lady should be suspended. I’ve been using Sam’s club scan and go for years and never had a problem. There’s no special line for users of this app at Giant so save yourself the trouble.

Avoid this app

Scanning works ok but some produce will not scan and you can’t easily increase quantities when purchasing multiples. It’s a pain in the neck. The biggest problem is after you complete your cart you still need to wait in line for register to pay. You load your credit card to the app but there is no way to apply the payment without stopping at register. Stopped at customer service and 2 people there had no idea how it worked and they couldn’t find any instructions. I had to pay for the produce that didn’t scan. So all in all it was a waste of my time. I told them to look at Sams Club for app design and that they should pull their app off the store until it’s fixed.

Must set up in Giant store!

I see so many people not getting this app! It is great. It ONlY works when you are logged into the Giant store free WiFi system. If your card doesn’t link- go to customer service. They needed to give me a new card and number (everything transferred) and now I can scan my groceries as they go in the bags, I go to self checkout and scan my Giant card and my purchases all ring up and I pay and am gone.
