Needs to connect better to my phone it’s really bad that it does not stay connected

Up until recently I recommended the Garmin GPS to others. Not any more. The app wont connect and support is ZERO help. They wanted me to do a bunch of things that require a computer. I’m a truck driver, I don’t have access to a computer. When I told them this, support simply cut contact and I haven’t been able to contact them. I’m looking for a new GPS.

Software stopped working with iPhone ios13. Seems garmin has no interest in fixing this software problem with smartphone link in a timely fashion or at all for iPhone users trying to get traffic info on their dezl 785 truck gps.

If you expect live traffic on a Garmin device, forget it...

Garmin devices such as dēzl truck gps and automotive units require this app to display real time traffic that’s advertised as free for life along with map updates. Well this app will not communicate with an iPhone XS Max. I’ve been over all the steps repeatedly, uninstalled and reinstalled and made sure everything was set as it should be , also fully updated the Garmin device. Still no live traffic displayed on the device. The app and the device keep saying check to make sure device and phone are in Bluetooth range, what a joke! They are both right here in the truck, close enough? Look at these reviews developers! Fix this crappy app before I sling the Garmin device out of the window of this truck. What good is lifetime traffic I can’t ever use? Seems like false advertising really. Edit: After looking over the other reviews with issues going back as far as 2 years, it’s very obvious Garmin doesn’t care that this app doesn’t function . Very disappointing and I won’t be buying anymore Garmin devices in the future. Gps units, dash cams , I’ve never used anything but Garmin , but if they can let this go on for this long then they obviously care less , so it’s time to move on.....sad really!

After months waiting for an update so my iPhone would connect it finally arrives. Only to work for a fleeting minute. Back to where it won’t connect. So thankful for Waze to receive real time traffic now only if they had a truck setting. Smartlink is a total waste. Awful.

I’m a trucker I have a iPhone 6S Plus it has a iOS 12.1.1 the Bluetooth connect with the Garmin dezl 780LMT-S & and the app send traffic notification. It works well. I bought the new iPhone 11 Pro Max it has iOS 13.2 the Bluetooth connect with the Garmin dezl 780LMT-S but the Garmin App doesn’t connect & it doesn’t send traffic notifications. How I can fix that? Thanks a lot in advance.

Connects when it feels like it, I'm only using weather add-on. One thing which would be a nice improvement (are you listening Garmin?) would be the ability to TURN OFF small craft warnings. Unless you are using the BMW Nav V on a boat, there is no need to get constant "small craft advisory" warnings when I'm 50 miles from the ocean! So slow to update data to the GPS and unreliable coverages. In order for this app to work, I have to restart my iPhone, otherwise it is just hit or miss. Really not very dependable.

Reading through reviews it seems many people may be technically challenged.. I haven’t had any connection issues through 3 different Iphones. Never had any issues using in town to get where I need to go. Weather and traffic updates, sometimes too frequent, are accurate. Took up a job and found a limitation with the app I would love to see overcome. The ability to lookup a location in a distant city. Currently I am saving the address to a contact in my phone as “work site” and sending to my garmin. May seem like a lot of work but its actually easier in the moment and typing on a phone is far more desirable than the GPS unit itself. So a basic location, name, or address search function that works similar to the built in search on the GPS would be great. Thanks for all your work!
