absent minded garden gnome
I love to garden and also have had small outdoor ponds over the years. I have been known to start filling a pond or start to deep water a tree and forget to go out and shut the water off. I estimate that mistake over the years has cost me over $1,000 bucks. Since I have had this device it has never failed to remind me when deep watering on a slow trickle that it detects what could be a leak. I will never again get nailed with an whoopsie water bill again. Thanks for developing this tech.

I wanted a thing to measure my water, not something that demands my location, address and insurance company to set up. I don’t see why this is required to read my meter.

We installed the Flume sensor last year. This spring we received a low flow leak alert. After checking that all water inside and out was off we thought it was a false alert. We still kept getting an alert about every three days. After a much more careful search we discovered a leak in a hose bib approximately 18 inches underground. Without Flume it would have been a very long time before we knew that was happening-

We are on water rationing due to the drought and don’t want any surprises. This was a little difficult to get up and running but the support was outstanding to make up for it. Love the amount of info and alerts. Perfect for what we need.

Installed in less than 15 minutes! Recently switched to an insurance with a high water deductible I’m hoping this bridges the gap in risk. Easy and intuitive they thought of everything even gloves to keep your hands clean during the install!

I am very capable technically. This product is near perfect. During the setup, in app, you can chat directly with support. Turns out that everything worked fine - I was not patient enough - but boy it was nice to have support tell me they saw everything working ok. Made this one of the best installs EVER!

Unfortunately, you can not setup a new device using iOS 14. You’ll need an iOS 13 device or wait until an update is released. I can’t wait to try this after the update and hope to post a positive review then. But for now the meter is unusable.

The device is wireless and straps around the water meter coming into your home. Then a wireless WiFi bridge connects to the internet through your home WiFi. Has been useful in detecting leaks, mainly caused by one of my 4 children not turning off water fully at faucets. Has push notifications via app and email. Would also have been useful in the past in detecting leaks due to forgetting to turn off pool refill water and the time an irrigation pipe burst in my backyard. Also monitors water usage over time.

Edit: Flume responded to this review saying the gps and local network information isn’t stored which is good but it’s not clear in the app. I’ll change my rating from 1 to 3. Original: This device requires an insane amount of personal information before it can be set up. Name, address, email, phone number, wifi password, precise GPS location, local network devices, and a photo of your water meter. On top of that, the link to their privacy policy from the App Store is broken and there’s no link inside the app. I just want a push notification when there’s a leak and see how much water I’m using. What possible reason could you have to need my precise location?

Water should not be taken for granted and apart from water conservation, the Flume device has provided us with money conservation in stopping water waste and leaks. The after sales service and support from the Flume team is magnificent.
