Almost perfect

SemoTech

As someone who loves automation and smart devices I had already installed a live power monitor in my house, but was not aware of this product’s existence. Actually found it by chance while browsing and I am glad I did. There are two versions of the hardware and as of October 2020 the Flume 2 is the latest. This version has better battery life and longer range. Interestingly enough after I registered for an account I got an email from Flume with a link to get a 50% off coupon from the water company, and a note about reaching out to my home insurance for a discount. I plan to do both and was very pleased. As for the device itself, it’s almost perfect. It’s just 2 pieces, the sensor that is placed around the main water meter and a small bridge box that connects to your home WiFi. Setup was a breeze and the step-by-step process went very smooth and quickly. Scan a few QR codes from the devices and enter your WiFI and you’re off. Meter sensitivity seems good but I only got it for a day so we’ll see. Negatives: * Not really real-time - app says to pull to refresh and it’s delayed about 1min. It’s OK but real-time would be nicer. * No ability to specify cost per gallon and tiers to compare with water bill. * No HomeKit integration ( would also bypass the WiFi selection and credential exchange and make this more private) * Asks for a LOT of personal info, some it seems it could do without. * Needs to allow editing of water budgets * More detail in the iOS app would be nice Positives: * Super easy and simple installation - from box opening to finishing water calibration it was about 15 min. * Works from very far away - mine is in a full metal box about 200ft from the water meter and has perfect signal. * Long battery life (still to be verified) * Very sensitive to water usage and will provide breakdown by hour, day, week and month. * Has web interface as well as iOS and possibly Android app. If HomeKit integration and water cost is added this would be a 5 star setup.

App and website keep giving server error messages.

The app does not work

Speedy1969

Could not get the app to work, spent 15mins on a chat with a Flume Water support guy who also couldn't figure it out, so we’re now waiting to hear back from the engineers, what a joke.

Excellent hardware and app

murphtron

The setup experience was very easy. Can be done by any homeowner. Every homeowner should know where their water meter is located anyway, so go find it! Mine was buried in sand in the pit in front of my house. Took time to excavate. Hardware setup and instructions were excellent. Agree that the app does ask for a lot of information. Not all of it should be mandatory eg insurance company. I personally don’t care but I can see why some people would be annoyed. Now I know that my son takes 40gallon showers and how much water my irrigation uses. Thx Flume!

Why no Landscape on iPad?

Kind of awkward . . .

Unexpectedly Great

RyeWit

Wow, easy setup, works as advertised. Awesome having access to all my house’s water data. Had a leak which lasted for months at my old house, this meter would have instantly found it! Installed at my new residence after our initial water bill was higher than expected. Great to have piece of mind with our current water usage. If you’re even thinking about go and guy one of these meters. Give this product an A+, it’s like a Fitbit for your water meter !!

Great app

Isublovinfool

One week in and flawless. Bravo.

Great app but the font size is way too small

Aquarium Ephemeris

Unnecessarily tiny, gray-on-white font is hard to read for those of us without perfect vision.

easy to see lots of water usage data

jasnrx

The app is very easy to use and allows you to see down to the minute data if you want, as well as various hourly, weekly, monthly, etc. summaries. I do wish it'd collect less data upon registration, but it doesn't seem to use it for anything. The hardware was been also great, running for months without issue.

Amazingly easy install and setup

Just installed Flume 2 monitor and found process to be incredibly simple and intuitive. I didn’t time it, but I doubt it took a half hour start to finish. Upon completion, I couldn’t believe the accuracy of the flow rate calibration. I only have two suggestions: landscape mode for iPad use and HomeKit integration.
