Updated: Forced firmware update fails to update

I had to clear the SD card and turn off the camera and when I turned it back on, it started working again. Everything seems to work again, yay! ---- My Flir FX camera is now useless. The app update forces you to do a firmware update, which I wouldn't mind, if the firmware update would actually work. After hitting the update button, it looks like the firmware is updating judging by the loading bar and offline status of the camera, but after the loading bar is finished and the camera comes back online, you try to go watch the video stream and it asks you to update again. I tried to update about 8 times now. Not happy.

I have other wireless cameras that seldom miss a beat, but the Flir camera and or software are offline more than online. I grow weary of power cycling the camera!!!
FLIR FX not the easiest

We bought three of these types of cameras for our home, with the assurance from Best Buy we could return any if we did not like. We are returning this camera. Getting started with the FLIR FX was much more difficult and cumbersome than the Logi Circle, and just as difficult as the D-Link HD Pan & Tilt. The FLIR FX also was significantly more complex to view online with our Apple devices (iPhones & iPads). It required to switch to its designated Wi-Fi connection in order to view online! At night, all the cameras reflected their IR lights on our windows' glass, so they did not work so well placed inside the house, looking outside at night. However, we were able to use the Logi Circle camera outside (during both the rain & a rare snow fall in our area). Additionally, the Logi has a magnetic base which I was able to place in more locations securely than any of the other cameras (without having to drill & screw in attachments). Finally, the FLIR FX is $30 more than the Logi Circle! We knew of FLIR's excellent reputation, but they have a ways to go before they get us to buy their Home camera devices. The Logi Circle is what we would buy again & recommend.
Sound doesn't work on iPhone

Update 1/13/16: sound still doesn't work on iPhone app. Camera stopped working and it took weeks to discover that I needed to update the firmware in order to get it working again. I also had to unplug the camera a few times before it would work, which was frustrating since the camera is in a different state with someone who isn't tech savvy. Original review: Sound doesn't work live on iPhone (5s or 6s) but works fine on iPad. Image quality and video playback (sounds works when playing videos but not live) are great. Camera are app are easy to setup and use.
Can't even create an account

Something seems to have gone wrong while creating the account. As I click on submit create the account it gave me an error message saying the password was wrong... How can it be wrong since I am creating it for the first time???

Sadly the Flir products are well made. However the company has been negligent on the back end. This app is glitchy. My recap hasn't worked on over a week. A disappointing product

How about some Apple Watch support? Being able to set alert tiles wound be great too.
Software & Cloud stopped working

The camera seems to work great, shows a great live feed in HD. However, my account stopped recording events to the cloud and now just shows blank activity feeds. Customer service continues to ask me to "try this" and "try that" to no avail. Would suggest going with someone else if you're looking for DIY home cameras.
Glitchy app.
Pushed too far
The app is glitchy. The camera will show offline even though signal is strong when confirmed by testing with other devices. Motion recordings are way too limited. For a single function device, it does not perform well. No app updates in over six months. Flir will gladly charge for the monthly service but the value simply isn't there and neither is their commitment to the product. I highly regret this purchase for keeping an eye on the back yard and pool. The only plus is the rapid recap feature. Other than that the camera and app combo is a bust.
