A worthwhile port

Jteiusa

This game ported well, despite the complaints about the touch screen interface. It's an iPad, how else are you gonna interact with it. As a player of the PlayStation version, you do get used to it. One thing I did notice, and I think it is a bug, but in the PlayStation version, if you took a holy knight's sword, you would prevent them from using their holy knight abilities. I stole Weigraf's sword in chapter 1 and he could still use them. If this bug persists, it is going to be really hard to defeat certain holy Knights, particularly the one that breaks your equipment.

Great game, terrible version

reggiereggiebobeggie

I have played this game on multiple platforms and enjoyed it each time. This game is great. This version, however, is unplayable. Do NOT buy this game. First, the touch screen control is terrible. You can hardly select the right character; you can't navigate through the menus. Second, the game constantly crashes. Not only that I have lost data twice now EVEN AFTER saving. I repeat, do not buy this version of the game.

Updated graphics are really nice

As an old fan of the original, I love what they did with the graphics. Still looks exactly as my old fond memories but it's actually a better, higher res version. In this version, you can zoom in and out to any degree you want and the sprites all look the same regardless of the zoom level. Controls are fine. Most of it is based around the idea of swiping in directions to simulate using the d-pad or you can just click on stuff directly instead. If you click on something not selectable (like outside a menu), it counts as pressing the confirm button. At the bottom of the screen, there are cancel and menu buttons. I am hard pressed to think of a better way for them to have done it (other than enabling us to use a real controller). When it comes to selecting tiles for movement or attacks, that is done by clicking on the tile, or you can click and hold, and move a cursor around. This part can be challenging sometimes. There is, however, a camera mode where you can rotate to any angle and also put it pretty far up vertically. With this, the really difficult squares become a lot easier to target. My first 5-10 hours on this game it crashed a dozen times on me and I wrote a review about it. Since then, I have gone about 15 hours of gameplay without a crash, so I think that may have been a fluke. Really, the only thing I can fault this game for is being on iPad instead of PS4 (please, SE, release this version with the sweet graphics on console).

Constantly Crashing

Kibblesnbitz

Please update this app. It's constantly freezing and crashing.

Fun game but crashes very frequently

ProPhotog293

This lives up to the PlayStation version I played years ago, but unfortunately it crashes A LOT. It's common to have it either freeze up or outright crash every 30-45 minutes.

No sound

JoeLin...

No sound in iOS10. Please fix this ASAP!

Great game, TERRIBLY ANNOYING CRASHES

KaosTrinity

Oh. My. GOD The number of times this game crashes is INFURIATING. During battles, when opening the menu, when walking along the map. FIX THE G.D. CRASHES! This is ridiculous. New iPad running current iOS, there should not be these problems.

Great game, but crashes and not optimized for current iOS

Buraian

FF Tactics is one of the all time greats, so when I saw this updated with graphics. However, the second the first mission. Begins, the app crashes. Drains battery like mad, and worse, before even starting the application I am warned by an iOS message that the app is not optimized for the current operating system. Seriously? Square-Enix you need to seriously learn how to properly handle your digital releases. This is like taking a long bathroom break right before the finish line of a long race then losing several places because of laziness. Still problems. And hopefully they will support and update this great classic of what Square-Enid USED to produce: great games. Also seems no option for the Japanese original text... what gives? Other applications even by Square-Enix offer this.

different versions

charging twice for iphone and ipad versions is lame.
