Freezing haven't left first town

Gungnir921

Speaking to the magic vendor in the very first town has crashed the game three times now. What a waste of money and sad from square. Please fix! I'm sure people will be buying these games again on the heels of ff15s release.

Constant Freezing

Ookhead345

I've bought several other FF apps from Square and they've all been awesome. This one, on the other hand, is garbage. The game constantly freezes and loses all game data.

Disappointed in square!

8bitme!

After only 10 min playing the game, I went to on of the shops to buy some new gear. Game froze! Not happy at all. Running current iOS on an iPad Pro 9.7.. and after paying squares super premium price for this game I'd expect better.

Locks up

Mayor Dewey

As mentioned by others, it locks up frequently when talking to merchants and this means loosing progress since the last save. Also it would be nice if this and ff1 had a better d pad akin to the mobile dragon quest games which nail it... it's just tedious to play with these two issues

Love the game, but impossible to play

Sutilardo

I'm a fan of Final Fantasy, I have fun memories playing this game as a kid. Sadly this app keeps crashing every single second, making impossible to play. I hope this problems gets fix soon. Mean time is not worth your money.

Please fix the game

BatBoi214

It keeps freezing on me I paid $8.60 for this and really enjoy the game!

Crashing

B1BB4NG

I've saw a lot of reviews pointing out that the game crashes and I've had this game on my phone for about 2 months now and there still hasn't been a patch for it

Clunky system with bad bugs

Ifrit101

I should go ahead and report the fact that my game froze at a black screen after a battle at the tropical island where I took the enemy's mace. Plz fix. Resumes are very inconsistent, while they used to be set after or before every battle, this game seems to choose really random quick save points. I'll be at the dreadnought and the resume will take me back to the ice caverns. The idea of actions being taken to increase a specific stat is just stupid. It can force you to partake in very repetitive and tedious actions in every battle and makes characters lose their individuality when it comes to skills. I like the darker story and music, but the gameplay just fell flat on it's face. This is probably one of the weakest titles in the series next to the XIII trilogy.

Constantly disappointed.

Fluurg

I have had this game since I bought it with the $70 bundle way back in 2015. It was unplayable until they did an update that allowed me to get past the opening sequence. Now (April 2017) I got a phone upgrade and got the urge to play this game again, and I see a lot of random crashing and a visual glitch (the sprites on screen will occasionally blink). I save very often but my patience has run thin, and I am two towns into the game. The bundle is worth it for all the other classic Final Fantasy titles, except this one. If you're considering just this title (Final Fantasy II) alone, give it a very hard pass and seek other options. This game is not functional. I'll hold on for updates and would even pay money (again!!) for a working version of this title.

Don't skip b/c of combat system

ViridianPhoton

(Looking for crash info? Skip down a few paragraphs, not as bad as it seems) Everyone beats up on this game b/c of the skill system, saying you need to attack your own party members and grind a lot to have any hope of progressing. This made me hesitate to play it, but I've been intrigued by the soundtrack for a while now, and finally decided to give it a try. I found I never did any of that stuff. The skill system did require focusing on having 1 character at a time do all the fighting in battle to progress them, but it never became disruptive or grindy per se, though did make battles take a little longer. But I was able to do that while progressing the story. I will agree that the system probably could've used some tuning to avoid having to be deliberate this way to specialize your skills. Skill system aside, I was surprised by the depth of this game's story for being an early RPG. The game built up the world and the people of it felt connected. It was cool how characters would help you for a while and depart. Despite being flawed, I did in fact like how the skill system customized your party around your play style, and loved the music of course (like both the NES and remade OSTs). The Soul of Rebirth was a nice epilogue for the game, in spite of being a bit tough early on. I felt like it truly "completed" the story for the game after the original ending. The iOS port worked pretty well. Reviews complained about crashing (as of 5/2017), which I did notice on my iPhone 7, but in a consistent way that I could consistently avoid - namely, the first time you talk to a shopkeeper in each shop would sometimes trigger a freeze. Entering the menu to save before talking to the shop keeper usually seemed to prevent the freeze, but if it didn't, I just needed to re-load. I made a habit of doing this and the game never gave me problems. I never had it freeze or crash any other time. You can save anywhere in this game, so if you do that often, you're fine. Other than, I had no other technical issues. I did hate the on-screen D-Pad. I got used to it after about an hour, but it frustrated me throughout the game. It seemed to be tough to change directions with it because it's harder to roll your thumb to a different direction on a touch-screen. It at least didn't feel like it covered the action though. All in all, if you're interested in the FF series, I'd say this is worth a play, though maybe not as your first one.
