Used to love it

Geoff Gordon

New update puts un-dismissable ads in the middle of feeds, disguised to look like articles. Seriously? I’m happy to support developers with ad revenue, but please don’t be deceptive. I’m now a paid customer of a competing app. Update: the developers contacted me and promised to make the ads more distinct in a future version. That’s great, thank you! I’ll look at the new setup when it comes out, and I’ll consider returning to Feedly at some point if I am convinced that there is no longer an attempt to be deceptive or punitive. I’ll update my review again if so.

THE DEVELOPERS LISTENED TO THEIR USERS!

pstew97

The developers listened and have changed the app. You can once again sort by source. Thank you for changing it back! OLD REVIEW: Horrible update. Lost the ability to sort by source. I don’t read a newspaper by scrambling up the pages from several papers and try to sort through it. What makes you think I want to do that in an app? This app is all but worthless to me now.

Update Kills Reason to Have This App

Slickdoporto

Developer fixed the issue and reached out to me! Great customer service. ——- Reading feeds is about choice, and by removing the ability to select ONE feed to read, organize how I view content and generally just make things hard, I’ll be looking elsewhere. Sad day, I have recommended this app to many people. I’ll need to reach out and tell them of the digression.

Aargh, updated the app by mistake and it’s horrible!

Froogalmom

I’d been avoiding to update my Feedly app for... probably at least 2 years. Today I forgot that I didn’t want to update it and now I have a useless app. You know, one of those whose “new and improved” iteration actually means a huge loss in productivity because now I have to click and swipe and scroll at nauseam when before I just needed to scroll, click and swipe and be done. It is not just a case of not liking change. But change for the sake of change and looking jazzy and cool is horrible when it also forces the user to spend more time doing the exact same thing that the old version allowed her/him to do much faster and efficiently. Feedly, you have lost your way. You may now lose me as a user and advocate as well. Ps: I’m not even touching the “aaargh, ads in my feeds” controversy because I didn’t even get that far into the app before having a conniption about how everything takes so much longer to accomplish now. * update on 8/14/20: developer replies to this review wanting details. Doesn’t provide email address for me to provide details including screenshots. Developer claims I can revert to Classic Feedly. Hmm, there is NO option for this. Provide directions on how to do this, please. I wish I had never updated this app. You should have continued to provide the same options as the pc version. Also, now seeing how much the subscription would be. I’d be willing to pay for the app to go back to the way it was 2 years ago. But I don’t need all the bells and whistles, “teams” and “magazine cards” and whatever other gadgets. Like another reviewer stated, all I want is an RSS feed reader that lets me organize my feeds and shows me the headline view with my feeds remaining pinned to the left side of the screen (instead of disappearing until we tap to see them) without waste of space or negative space and the option to email articles to myself or others. That’s it. Also, where is the big check mark that appeared when we scrolled down, so we could mark the feed as read?! Now is incessant scrolling. More icons that I’m never going to use, but the choices that I had and wanted to keep have either disappeared or are buried under other drop down menu or within icons. What the hell? So I’m not paying $100 a year for this app, especially when news sites such as Reuters and my local newspaper’s site have turned off their RSS feeds altogether. How many more will follow suit? Is your price going to continue to go up for features that I don’t need nor want, at the same time as the digital news industry is starting to revolt against RSS feed readers? That seems ill-advised.

CyberSecurity requires additional subscription out of no where

Saranno

Long time happy user, however, starting late May 2020 feed for cyber security requires more / high tier of subscription. Won’t be renewing my yearly subscription after it is up.

The reason for Feedly Update

AstralDarkstar

I’m going to leave this review for the real reason behind this Feedly update. None of us like their Sponsored Ads. You can call them any other names, they are ads. They claim you can pay $8 a month for Pro, just to lose ads on articles and add features no one asked for. $8 a month is a rough price for some streaming services and definitely not worth it for this kind of service. They created the Feedly Classic app to try to get users back on it so you can get what you used to have. They tried to cover their tracks of what they really did. The real reason of changing this app instead of creating a new one. The sudden change of the app goes against everything they started with. They built up a great amount of reviews from people that loved what they did, thousands of 5 star reviews. By making this change, they are able to keep those total reviews and great score. Everything they’ve done is deceptive. They sold out and got too greedy. Apple should reset their review score because this app is not the same as it was. Adding in fees and new features is taking advantage of the flawed system Apple has in place and the people that once supported them.

now ADS

Runcrazy

This was my go to reader app but now they put in annoying ADS and want over $100 a year to remove them.

Nope, done moving on

TheDude51

I don’t know when the sponsored articles became prevalent, but today all my feeds have a sponsored posting from O2Canada. I went to the websites of a few of my feeds and there was no posting for this product. Feedly inserted the sponsored listing into all my feeds and it looks so close to a regular post. EDIT: I have been too lazy to move on so far. I will definitely not be subscribing to the upgrade though. $8 per month is the same price I pay Microsoft for my family 365 subscription! EDIT 2: I just spent the last hour migrating to custom lists on Twitter. App deleted. It is no fault of the developer. RSS is dead.

RSS feeds rock and Feedly gets it!

wasyapp

First review for the App but been using on the desktop for many years. Feedly is one of the rare remaining products that’s actually still innovating on RSS feed consumption. Like the new ML based agent Leo (premium) which seems useful for filtering high priority areas of interest when one has hundreds of feeds.
