Works Fine! Makes Impossible Measurements Happen.

Used both the EyeQue PVT and EyeQue VisionCheck and they both work well, but the VC version is easier because the buttons are on the unit instead of having to touch the phone screen to adjust. Some people have difficulty aligning the lines up sometimes and that’s a measure of astigmatism at play and perfectly normal. You stop fiddling with back and forth adjustments when the middle of the red and blue lines are as clearly white as possible. Depending on your eye condition, sometimes the lines are still a bit fuzzy. That’s the closest focus you’ll get from your eyes at that particular retinal angle. Eye exams used to use the same double slit testing but (time=money and having you read random letters is faster to get you to a quick prescription.) What home testing does that’s impossible to get on a once per year exam is average measures over all the changes you eyed go through during a day or night. Measure every time during a work day and you’ll get a good average for a work day prescription. Measure repeatedly at night and you’ll get a night vision prescription. Over time, I’ve developed really accurate prescriptions for use during the week versus outdoors on vacation. Well worth the investment and over time can see definite patterns to when my eyes need stronger correction (like at night) versus when a relaxed prescription makes everything reasonably clear but lets my eyes work more to focus. Even the refractometer method of vision testing is only one measurement at one time. This gadget and the App give you the power to test whenever you want and more importantly as many times as you need to get the best prescription for specific uses.

Terrible

I’m an ophthalmologist-This is a piece of junk. I tried it once and it took so long and and was so cumbersome I could have done 5 refractions in the office in the amount of time it took me to not even complete one test. I would give it 0 stars if that was a choice I threw it in the trash.

Utter Trash

This app is trash. Constantly has you start over or doesn’t register your completed tests making you start the long process all over again. Generally unresponsive UI. During the test if you tap on text at the top of the screen the keyboard pops up! ROFL. Of course you can’t dismiss it. Couldn’t even get through an exam. If there was 0 stars I’d give it. Complete waste of money. Innovation award at CES means garbage if this is what they pick. Either that or there wasn’t any other products to judge. Go visit your eye doctor. This product is a joke.

Bad design, lots of issues.

First off the update makes one put the rubber band band around the volume and power buttons on all modern iphones, triggering sirri, sos, or shut off. Before the update I took 49 counted tests and kept getting ’server error’ every few tests ( in reality took over 60 tests) . Keeps giving me ‘inconsistent results’. Very disappointed, definitely returning it, now stuck in server error, can’t upload or have the test count.

Easy to use after you practice. Eye exams from home!

So far so good! My son and I tested our eyes a few times and got our numbers. I used my sons results and made it into his prescription and ordered a pair of glasses from Zenni. I’ll update my review once we receive them!

Is it me or the app
AStrangerYouDontKnow

Testing was so difficult. Sometimes I couldn’t see out the eye I was testing, sometimes there was no green or red line. The controls are clunky and I don’t know how they expect anyone to focus on something else while trying to move with these god awful controls.

cannot delete data

I was showing a friend how to use the app. He accidentally clicked on save. Now his eye test is part of my permanent record and there is no way to delete it other than writing to customer service, and good luck with that! So the device is now a useless piece of junk.

Does not provide valid usable results

TL;DR. The results I got were off from an actual doctor exam. I didn’t realize the results did not work until I got glasses which took a long time to arrive putting me near the end of the return window. I was unsuccessful getting any support from the company. I do not recommend this product or app. With my normal doctor closed due to COVID I got this tester to renew my prescription because I was overdue and things were starting to become a bit fuzzy. I ran through the tutorials and did a few tests to get my results. Unfortunately there is no way of knowing if they are correct until you get some glasses. The first problem I ran into is finding a place that would let me order glasses without a real prescription. Once I found one online, I entered my values and submitted my order. The wait to get the glasses was terribly long due to COVID and not being in the CONUS. When I received them though I was disappointed that it made things more blurry than my current set of glasses. I double checked the numbers and confirmed they matched. I called the glasses company thinking maybe they were made incorrectly. They offered a return with a credit for a replacement pair thankfully. I made a few attempts to contact EyeQue for support but I never received a response and their chat feature never worked. It would either never load or say they were not online. I was now three days outside the return period from the date I ordered the device and still unable to contact EyeQue. All comments and reviews I left on their page and videos were either never posted or have been removed. Recently things have opened back up here and I was able to get a professional eye exam. The results showed stark differences from EyeQue. The biggest being the EyeQue measured farsightedness in both eyes whereas the doctor exam did not (Plano). Cyl and axis were also off for both eyes. When I showed him the values I got from the EyeQue they could not understand how it got those. The doctor even dialed it into the test glasses and it was just as blurry as the pair I ordered.

As consistent as the eye doctors

I have used this tool for about three years now, starting with the older PVT tool. I have also recorded my eye doctor test results for the past 15 years. This tool has been much more consistent for me.
