Extortion tactics to get me to upgrade

Dcarson67

BEWARE! IF YOU UPGRADE YOUR DEVICE YOU WILL BE FORCED TO BUY THE UPGRADE OR YOU LOOSE EVERYTHING! I got the free version of this app and absolutely loved it. I used it both professionally and personally for over 2 years, if not longer. I told everyone how much I loved it, I was their biggest advocate. But then I upgraded my phone last week because my husband and I switched cell phone carriers. Beyond disappointed that when I went to Evernote on my new device I was told that unless I pay to upgrade, I loose everything that I had in the app. So you get the free app, but if you switch phones at any point you will loose everything you did on your old device unless you give in to their extortion tactics and pay for the upgrade. What is so frustrating about this is that I loved it so much that I always said to myself that if I get to the point of running out of space on the free version of the app, I would pay to upgrade. What does getting a new device matter? Just because I got a different phone I now can’t use the free version anymore and not only that, I can’t go back and get any of the stuff that I had saved on what I thought was the free version. So not right and now I will be looking for another note taking app. There’s plenty of them around. This is not how you go about getting people to upgrade and now they lost a customer over it. I did try and messaging Evernote through Facebook and have been ignored. Also not good customer service. If your going to force people into upgrading, maybe have better customer service..... So disappointed....

Auto title feature!

Laudier1

Write in the body of the note then have the note take the first few lines for the title! Love that this feature is finally here!

Too frustrating on mobile

The Dragon Reborn

Key functions are not available as main icons, so I’ve moved this review to 2 stars. First, the “notes” icon now hits you with ALL your notes! A pointless massive pile of things. Reminders on notes are inexplicably hidden, and now instead of using titles during input, it quickly puts you in the body so now I’ve a bunch of reminders marked “note.” Tags are buried also difficult to assign in a note. Lastly, a key space for an icon on the home screen is given to “my account” which I almost NEVER need. These design flaws in the app goes against the whole point of having Evernote on your phone. forcing you to use Evernote how the devs think you use it. Please make the app flexible. Allow me to change icons based on how I use Evernote. It’s SO powerful on the desktop, why stop innovation on mobile?

Refuses to sync remote notebooks and tags

rym21

The syncing has been very buggy lately, including in this update. Entire notebooks I have created on the desktop are not showing up as options in the iPad app weeks after creation.

MacBook update

AustinJ523

I do not like how it’s not as easy to switch back and forth from personal notes to business notes. When I change to personal from business it kicks me out of full screen view. I also feel like the indexing has gotten worse.

Always works never fails

Evernote truly remembers everything you stick in it. My only gripe right now is I would love a dark theme for the iPhone X

Latest update crashes on sync

AZXCoder

Very disappointed that the latest version keeps crashing the app on sync. The app doesn't disappear, per se, but instead drops into the background. Bringing it forward crashes it again, ad Infinitum. This app has been pretty reliable until now, but this is a killer. September 28th: I installed today's update with supposed iOS11 fixes. No change, still crashes. Still waiting for a response to my bug report. September 29th: Dropped to one star because of no response to my bug report. By the way, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app TWICE. It syncs all the way to the end and then CRASHES repeatedly. October 4th: Updated to iOS 11.0.2. Still crashes on sync. Completely useless and I have yet to get a response to my ticket. I didn’t know Evernote provided no support for this product. October 4th: I removed the app for the 3rd time, reinstalled and resynced, but now under the new OS. Finally, it seems to be holding stable after multiple syncs. October 5th: Crashing again. At least I got a response on my ticket after prompting them after waiting 2 weeks. More to come. October 8th: Customer service finally solved the issue. Turns out a bug in Apple Watch integration caused the app on the iPhone to crash repeatedly. I was directed to uninstall the app from the watch and that fixed it. Changing the rating to 3 stars because (generally speaking) I like the app. Problems like this are unnecessarily careless and to leave a premium customer hanging for 2 weeks is unacceptable.

Crashes on startup

The latest update crashes on startup — they better fix it soon or I’m cancelling my subscription!

Force Closing

Ease of naming notes needs improvement!

billsebas

I’ve been using Evernote for years, and will continue, as there’s nothing like it. But I am amazed that this problem still persists. The biggest problem has always been how difficult/time consuming it is to name a note after you’ve created it. It’s appalling how many taps it takes on your phone to get it done. When you finish snapping a photo of a note, and save it, at best it takes you to a list of notes where the one you created is sitting at the top called “Untitled snapshot note”. 1 click to get back into the note you just created. Another to click into the name. Then you can click 22 times to delete the name, or hold down the delete key. Only then can you start typing a name for your note. And that’s best case scenario. If the last thing you were doing before you made your note was a search, you’ll save see your last search results, and spend clicks backing out of it before realizing you have to click on “Notes”. IT IS SO OBVIOUS THAT THE FIRST THING ANYBODY WANTS AFTER CREATING A NOTE IS TO NAME THAT NOTE! Always! It is always the first thing I want. I do not want a bunch of untitled notes sitting in my Evernote. I can’t think of anything worse. As soon as you snap a shot it should default to the name field, with “Untitled snapshot note” ready to be replaced upon the first click. At the very least, it should have an X circle at the end of the title to be able to delete the whole field at once and start typing. Please, please, please fix this.
