Good story

HarunaV

First, I'd like to state that these stories aren't really like Hakuoki. Despite being based on the Shinsengumi, EoS:CoL isn't supernatural. It's also a lot less dark and depressing when it comes to endings, so please treat it like a separate story and stop comparing it to Hakuouki. Also, the coin system. First of all, of you understand the system, you would know that you have to create a username and password under transfer data on the start page. I'm assuming the system is for stopping hacks. You can restore purchases by logging in if you've got a new device or if you needed to reinstall the app. Also, you don't have to purchase coins beforehand. You can just pay for the story like on any other voltage app for the standard price of $3.99 for each main story/sequel. Onto the actual stories. I really liked Okita's route the best! Hijikata's was a close second, though I thoroughly enjoyed his sequel in the second season. Saito's route was okay but predictable and lacking in Heart-pounding scenes. Overall, the characters in EoS:CoL are wonderfully developed. I particularly liked how their ideologies shape the plot and how the main character actually has character development instead of merely acting as a support for the love interest; especially in Hijikata's case, I feel like the MC and the love interests helped each other grow. That being said, I didn't like Shin's route. It was boring, he wasn't a great character imo, and I don't like how the Shinsengumi and Hijikata were portrayed as villains. I love the idea in Shin's route that everyone is fighting for justice but with different ideas in mind. However, I feel like this moral is ruined because Voltage had to make someone into the bad guy. Well, I don't care if Shin is an irredeemable murderer...? That's just part of his character. I would have preferred the MC to develop more complexly than have the story try to spin Shin into a better man. Moreover, the stuff with Hijikata was simply unnecessary and a waste. I didn't like his route at all, which is a shame because Shin is a very interesting character. His route is just poorly written and left a sour taste in my mouth.

Awesome! A Must-Read!

I know a lot of people are complaining about the Coins System, but honestly, it isn't that big of a change and the game is worth buying if only for Okita's route. I've read many Voltage Games, and I love many Voltage characters, and I can honestly say that Okita is my all-time favorite character of any Voltage game. Plus, Voltage definitely goes in different, more serious and emotionally realistic direction with this game. It's got everything. Please, at least read Okita's route and give it a chance. I think you might just end up loving it.

Was Really Enjoying the Game, Until the Awful New Coins System & Restore Method Struck

allourvice

I was prepared to sink the usual $20-$40 USD into this game, as I have with a long list of other Voltage titles in the past, but then the horrible new system issues just cost me the first $3.99 USD I was trying to spend on Soji's Main Story. I followed all the steps, registered my email for data transfers, the whole works, but when went to go make my purchase -- 400 coins at once, from the option available in Soji's character menu -- they never appeared in the app after I bought them. I received an iOS notification confirming my successful 400 coin/$3.99 USD purchase and everything, but the coin counter within the app still reflects "0", regardless what I do. And I have tried relaunching, restarting, and even deleting & reinstalling -- *multiple* times -- before I finally just gave up and contacted Voltage. But then yet *another* issue arose there too! After typing up and sending in my error report email I never received the auto reply email their "contact us" section alerted me to look out for. Not in my junk mail folder, nor anywhere else; which I can't help but find *particularly* shady/weird, considering I got my data transfer registration email almost instantly... Anyway, I'll go ahead and get to my point: This new system is FLAWED (and that's being generous), and is undoubtedly going to start costing Voltage not only lost revenue, but soon the trust and loyalty of longtime fans such as myself as well. Take one look at the ratings and comments posted by my fellow reviewers here, and you'll see that this is starting to become quite the popular opinion among Voltage's player base. So I urge you, PLEASE, address this SOON. I *really* love Voltage's games, but I WILL take my money elsewhere if this system, and these questionable practices, continue for very much longer. Voltage, please, *please* listen to this feedback. Choose to do right by us. Because at the end of the day we aren't *just* your customers, we're also some of your company's biggest fans. ??

It's a bit expensive compared to other Voltage series

jinjayon

The stories aren't that long and the completion bonus is too expensive. But other than that I really liked Shin's route!!!!! You'll like him better than Hijikata. Trust me. I'm really anticipating season 2 for Shin and hope Voltage well the season stories in bundles!

Amazing!!

Trying to learn Italian

I love this game so much. The stories are so amazing and I can imagine all that is happening while I go along. The money is worth it even though it isn't a lot! I wish there was more episodes and more acts though regarding Hijikata! I would love to read more with my character and him!

I love this game so worth it, literally does actually feel real actually makes my heart start beating fast. I wish there were more story's of toshi hijikata. I love it when soji okita butts in hijikate business all the time it's hilarious wish there was more of that too! Great storytelling :)

loved this game! ❤️❤️❤️

emi22212e

i really enjoyed this game and the special bonus scenes with voice acting! like someone else wrote before, it definitely felt real. a very immersive experience. i played it back when only hijikata and saito were the options, played both routes, and fell for both of them even though hiji was more my type! definitely worth it. ❤️❤️❤️

It's so-so (Updated)

Isidoras

I only support Voltage for silly visual romance novels because they actually disclose the full costs. Thank you for your honesty, Voltage. This particular title only gets a 2⭐️ because the main character is both innocent AND stupid. It's funny when she's one or the other, but both at the same time gets a little tedious. It's abused for plot purposes in a very transparent way. I don't expect a lot, but I can only overlook so much before it affects my enjoyment. The characters aren't bad when you can ignore the MC. The second reason for 2⭐️ is the abrupt scene transitions. Some are so sudden it seems like lines or slides are missing, especially in Okita's story. I always like seeing how people fictionalize the events near the end of the Edo period as much as I like seeing how they fictionalize the end of the Wild West (Wyatt Earp & Doc Holliday, for example). But this one is burdened by relying on the innocence + stupidity combo of the MC. UPDATE: They did better with the MC for Harada's story. I like it a lot when the MC is pretty different each read too so I'll keep it at a 3⭐️ until the stories are all released. UPDATE: I'll keep it at 3 stars now that I've read all the main stories. I don't regret buying them at all. I'll stick with it cuz I'm curious how they'll handle the end...Civil war is tragic for both sides, the only people who win are those who aren't born yet...This isn't Hakuoki where they can blame happy endings on oni lol.

LOVE IT!

Once again Voltage has done a beautiful job with this app! Get them all!!??

I've fallen!

These games are all so well done! I've played other otome games, but voltage definitely comes out on top! Every character is so diverse and lovable that I end up spending way too much money on them!
