Nice App, but new issue, and...

87830

Sometimes now when you try to share and choose SMS, you don’t get the “To:” field on iOS! This only happened after 1 or 2 shares that worked. I’m on an iPhone X and all up to date Oh, also this version is back to crashing every now and then. Also vertical-scroll can be stubborn about loading new stories. I still appreciate Engadget, and I write this review because I really do care (selfishly hoping they’ll fix stuff)

Abysmal

Jcaputo1984

This is the worst app I use. Yet, I use it. The content is terrific but the app has been a nightmare for years and continues to be awful. In fact it seems to be getting worse. The near constant crashes are so aggravating. There’s a wonderful irony in the fact that the blog I turn to for tech news and reviews has the absolute worst app in the developed world.

Broken after last update

Somnium7

News feed no longer updates after most recent update. Only headline stories are changing. I've been using app for years and I am bummed to see it so broken now.

Used to be my go to source

craigd.it

I used to love Engadget. The app worked great. Content had just the right amount of details and was quick to read and catch up. Now, I can't even read an article! The second I open one, the App Store pops up trying to get me to download some stupid app. Close the App Store, go back to Engadget and the App Store opens up again for a different useless app. I am done with ad supported sites and apps. Let me pay to get rid of the stupid ads and I may come back, but for now... bye bye Engadget.

Broken

RG777

I've used the app for years. I don't understand how an app can go from my go to app to being really horrible. I didn't like when they changed the format and each article took up more space. But at least that wasn't a deal breaker. What is a deal breaker is the constant App Store popping up. I deleted the app.

Mediocre

Cygnet84

For a tech blog, this app looks and feels clunky and slow. And they use app store promo ads which are essentially pop-ups that open the app store on your phone without any prompting.

Continuously redirects to the App Store for different crap apps.

Cblaxx19

While trying to read an article, the app continuously redirects to the App Store for various random other apps. Requires a restart of the app to stop the loop.

Terrible app go online instead

Jbriggs5833

Ads pop up forcing you out of the app without even clicking on anything. It literally stops you from reading articles which is what the app was made for. Very dumb.

Lacking in updated news

Quildar

Has trouble pulling most current content. Also has minimal content compared to the web. For a tech site their app is utterly lacking. Do yourself a favor and load up the website and skip this app.

Slow, crashes, and advertisements

FanofMoba

It now takes several seconds to download anything from engadget servers. When I first open the app, when I click a linked article, every time white screen with an inanimate progress bar.
