None better

After an exhaustive search for a gif animation creator, this is as close as you can get. This application has a wide array of tools like rotate, flip, line, shape, layers, fill, copy and paste within the application only(no importing). You can keep a preview of your art in actual size while working on the zoomed image, various canvas sizes up to 320x480(I think). Pinch to zoom in/out and two finger swipe to scroll. There is an option for onion skinning but I haven't got that advanced yet. I have downloaded a few other pixel paint applications (even one for the ipad only, which I don't own) and this is easily the best. The one downer is no importing of art or exporting as an animated gif. If you've happened to find this gem while searching, believe me when I say this is the only thing, as of Aug.30,2010.

Great!

This is my favorite pixel paint app for the iPhone! My only request is to include the ability to import from the camera roll. Then you could import a pic and create a new layer over that and do pixel paintings of that image. Then this app will be 5 stars all the way! 

The best!

This app really is the best for pixel painting, it even has shortcuts that make drawing and animating really easy!

Feature Rich, But Unrefined and Obtuse UI

DFlaum

This is the first pixel art app I've bought, and so I can't compare it to other apps. Of the two I looked at, this one advertised the most features. It also supports the largest canvases. But what it gains in sheer power and capability, it loses in the user interface department. The controls take up too much of the screen, and can't be hidden to reduce clutter. Important settings are found in hard to reach places. Gestures are poorly matched to tasks. For example, scrolling is done with two fingers. This is a real pain, as it becomes harder too see what you're doing with two fingers, and you run out of room much more quickly than you would with one. tl;dr Spend your money elsewhere. This app's UI will have you tearing your hair out.

Best Pixel Art App

This is a great app! Was tempted to give five stars, but that rating is tossed around so much these days, and I think are a few things that would definitely improve this app. Interface is appropriate. Once you get used to moving around the controls, the real estate the controls take up doesn't become that obtrusive. Would like to know exactly what the b/g color selector does. I can't seem to figure it out and on more than one occasion it has messed up my art to the point where I had to revert back to a previous save. Could use some explanation. Also, would love to see some other export functions such as iTunes file sharing, Dropbox, or iDisk. This implementation would definitely deserve a 5-star rating.

I've always been interested in pixel art, and this app opened up a new world for me. This application has tons of features, is user friendly and it has an easy to use interface to make design pixel art on the go possible! Overall, I maybe be new to pixel art, but I know a good app when I see one, and this would be one of those. I'm also looking for some good tutorials for learning how to do good (I have broad interests when it comes to the topic, it all interests me.) pixel art. -Fß

Best pixel art app

Only thing I wish it had would be an opacity slider for the pencil. And a "transparent" color. Good for icons, animations.

Great for planning structures in Minecraft

I was searching for just such an app. Thanks.

1 star

I will keep one star until you update it so you can import a design. It keeps crashing for me.

Great

Purple Banana Tree

Just the right kind of program I was looking for. Impressed me from the beginning.
