I have been trying to figure this out for an hour. I changed the password because it made me but now it says the pass key is incorrect because there’s no opportunity to type it in! This is so frustrating.

First of all, I love Shimano. They’re known for their exceptional quality and reliability and my R8050 groupset was a fantastic investment. However, this app is AWFUL!!! Had to spend 90 bucks on the EW-WU101 adapter to get the Bluetooth connection and then after setting it up on the bike and trying to connect to the app it began updating the firmware. Then it stopped updating and COMPLETELY BRICKED MY ENTIRE DI2 SYSTEM! Lights wouldn’t turn on in junction box, gears wouldn’t shift, nothing. Naturally I made sure all the connections were correct then plugged it into the E-TUBE software on my PC. After recognizing my components I then got a message telling me I couldn’t even update the EW-WU101 using the computer and had to use the app (a huge issue given that now every time I open the app it will just load and then say “incorrect password” despite never giving me the option to even enter a password). Plus it wouldn’t let me update the firmware on my rear derailed because of the error message (can’t be exited out of) with the EW-WU101. I was able to fix the issue of my di2 system being bricked by disconnecting the EW-WU101 system then connecting the rear derailed the way it was before. Then updating the software on my rear derailer. However, I have tried since to update the firmware with the app but have had no success (still getting incorrect password issue mentioned before). In summary, this app is straight up garbage and could potentially brick your entire group set (I was fortunate to find a solution, but if you look online, many were not so fortunate). Save your money and just live without the features this app offers.

The app does not give you the ability to change the password to connect to your DI2 after setting a new password up on your PC, there is no obvious way to forget the device to try an attempt to connect from scratch. Pretty obvious oversight.

I like the idea of the app, just don’t use it for firmware updates. Everything else seems to work, but for sanity’s sake don’t update the firmware.
Not Worth The Frustration - Do Not Download
Waste of time 2019
I never write reviews but want to forewarn anyone who attempts to use Shimano’s e-project software. Don’t!!! It doesn’t deserve 1 star but it’s the default. I just spent 3 hours trying to download the software without success. Bluetooth repeatedly dropped the connection and then when it did connect the software reconfigured all gearing which left my bike caught between gears and not rideable. Save yourself the frustration and pass on this software. It’s not worth it!!!

As others have described. Day 2 of Di2. After a great ride I wanted to configure the sprint shifters. Connect to the app and it auto downloaded firmware and then the connection interrupted. Brick!!!!! I have nothing but profanity for Shimano.
