Well, after a trip to Italy and determining that I will retire to Italy I set about to acutely learn Italian. I have been a teach, school principal and school administrator. I know a lot about learning. In my opinion, Doulingo fails at being adaptive to the learner. It cant really tell when you hit a wall or are struggling. It just keeps giving you the same materials over and over. This is really, really bad teaching. Like, ih you didn’t understand fractions? Lets just give you the same worksheet until you do. It must become more adaptive to the student, just going through lessons isnt enough. I had higher expectations given the founders background. But after all is said, its really just a fancy flash card program. The is no AI codes in to look at where you struggle or what you struggle with. It is always somewhat easy to cheat the program. If you are a good test taker you can intuit the right answers, the same is here. Ive been stuck in lessons and it just keeps giving me the same problems. When what it should be doing is realizing i am having an problem and break that lesson down into smaller lessons. Its great for the first year or maybe two. But right when you want to push on, right where it gets hard; it doesn’t accommodate and meet you where you are and help you break through. Rather frustrating. Trust me. I know good teaching; and this isn’t teaching. Its still a matching game. The student has to supplement the program with a lot of outside work from many different sources. At the end, its just not adaptive to the unique student. Hope they make it better.

Easy and Fun!

Teririn

This is my first time learning a new language since high school, and Duolingo makes it so fun and easy to do that! I’ve only used the app for four days now, and I’ve learned so much. Their free version is very worth sitting through the ads for how much content there is to learn. Highly recommend for anyone looking to learn a new language without spending any money!

Meh

Dreadlobster

Doesn’t really teach much, just more of a fill in the blank game. Seems designed moreso to get you to buy credits.

Where is Farsi (Persian)?!?!?!?????

Bab5456

Great app but it has been close to 10 years that this app has been active and it still does not offer Farsi as a language. Approximately 85 million people living in Iran, 5 Million Iranians live outside of Iran and from that 5 million about 1 million live in America. I never write reviews but every company is slowly trying to diversify and after approximately 10 years I would expect more from this company rather than being silent about it.

I just need to learn filipino i need the Language so that i could speak filipino.

Terrible App

MeridaMexico13

This is a terrible learning app. It might be good for beginners, but gives incorrect answers for more advanced students. The voice recognition malfunctions. When I try to correct the wording obtained incorrectly by voice recognition, the program reverts to the original, and states I got the wrong answer. I want my money back.
