Best DQ game ever - Great iOS - iCloud needs fixing

OhMyJigSaw

Love the game. The port to iOS is really good. Love the portrait mode. The controls are fine. I recommend this game to anyone who likes JRPG games. The earlier DQ games are also good on iOS. One glitch is iCloud save does not work for me in this game, so I can't upload / download saves between my iPad and iPhone- bummer; I see this problem was reported before. Gave it 5 stars anyway as it is a great game.

Good game. Bad price

Markytheog

The game is nothing short of amazing. The frame rate is a bit low, but it's tolerable. The controls are pretty good for a one button control scheme. Forced portrait is very hard to get used to though. The price of $20 isn't really worth it for an iPhone app, but this game definitely is worth it.

Fix iCloud saving!!

QNTNBROWN

Please fix the iCloud save backup function. I have a new device and I need this feature to work in order to pick up where I left it on my other device.

Badly Needs Update

Don’t take my word for it, look at everyones’ reviews.

Excellent way to revisit a classic - Lacks Updates

B.Watts

2017 Edit: The game is still a great game, however cloud save functionality has been broken for months and the game hasn't seen any updates in over a year now to make it more compatible with new OS and devices. Still playable, still enjoyable, but performance is lower even on newer devices, and cloud features being down is a drag. I bought and loved DQ8 when it came out, and now almost 9 years later I'm able to revisit this beautiful RPG. The transition to iOS was not without sacrifices, but as much as an orchestral soundtrack or voice overs would be nice, I find it wasn't that bad to give them up to have this game in the palm of my hand. And probably 80% of the time or more I'm playing with the sound off anyway. Portrait mode took all of ten minutes to get used to, and now I'm rather happy for it. It's impressive how much of the game you can still see. The visual integrity of the game is actually made better by the one handed play style as everything my thumb needs to do is below the action and out of the way. I can enjoy the wonderful visuals the entire time in a way that two thumbs in landscape mode might take away from. As for crashes I've played the game about two hours on an iPad 2 and 3 hours on an iPhone 5 and have yet to experience a crash. I usually have all of my background apps closed when I play, so that may be the reason. I do still switch to text messages mid-game but never have issues switching back. All the wonderful gameplay of DQ8 has made it over, and I really feel like I have a very complete package well suited for my mobile collection. I highly recommend that anyone interested in this game pick it up. I believe you'll find many of the gripes of other reviews overblown. Just remember to make sure your device is compatible, and to close those background apps!

iCloud data broken

Cosnovae

I recently upgraded my phone to iPhone X and want to restore my iCloud save data but failed. All my data are lost and I don’t want to play it from the beginning again. So sad!

Where is the iCloud save bug fix?

ibock

I sent like 30 tickets to your customer support, called a dozen times, and was told that this bug would be fixed in a patch. Square Enix, it has been a year and a half since I called and I still cannot access my save file since I switched phones. This is ridiculous, I paid like $30 when this game came out and you can’t even program the cloud save system correctly? Maybe instead of doing your thing where you announce new games and then take 10 years to release them, you should start pouring more funds into Business Division 8–the division you overwork by making them juggle a billion phone games—so they can hire more programmers and fix these issues that you’re currently ignoring. Companies who make crappy little free to play titles patch game-breakingbugs faster than you do and you charge $15-$30 per title on iOS. This is sad. There is absolutely no accountability over there. What are you doing? You better respond. This is unacceptable.
