Another Upset Long Time Customer

You stated in the last update that you fixed the legibility of the app. Well... you most certainly did not make any adjustments to the absolutely Illegible text in the widget. The text is so light that it can hardly be read. I really enjoy the word of the day, but if you do not darken the font, I will not be able to take full benefit of the app. PLEASE FIX THIS FEATURE!!

The voice search in V7.5.18 no longer works / missing! Otherwise it’s a great app. I now rate this a 5 Star app, as the developer responded and explained what to do!
Widget Needs Some Love

As corny as it sounds, I really look forward to getting my Word of the Day every morning. It’s become routine to swipe over to the widget to test my vocab knowledge, and to then use the a widget link to explore the word further if it’s one that’s really piqued my curiosity. That being said, the widget has been a source of frustration for me for a while now. The issues almost always involve freezes, hiccups, yips. Lately, it’s been no different as clicking on “Learn More” whenever I want to, well, learn more about a certain word, it brings me to the doorstep of the app and then it just becomes catatonic. Ultimately, that means I go looking elsewhere for my Word of the Day fix. I’d really prefer not to do that because I’ve been using dictionary.com for years and years, but I need reliability out of my apps! So, whaddaya say? Are you up for squashing some widget bugs? Update: The widget seems to have finally gotten the TLC it so desperately needed, BUT ... guessing the definition of the Word of the Day isn’t really much of a challenge nor is it a vocabulary-building experience when the word is included in the definition or an example sentence following the definition. This is far too common, and far too careless. Also, the inability to sync my “favorites” list between my iPhone and iPad is extraordinarily frustrating. I really wish I knew that before I forked over $5 for the “Pro for iPad” version to go along with the $4 I spent on the “Pro Learn Words” version for iPhone. Two stars it is, I’m afraid. And until some useful features come to this app, it’s Merrimam-Webster for me.

This app is a must have. Whenever I get a new phone or device this app, along with my banking apps, are completely standard. I use it multiple times a week and I'll never go without it.

I’m always curious. I really like this app because it just feeds my curiosity. With the exception of the other daily use apps, like Safari/Google, time clock, and calendar, this is my most used app. I love having verbal pronunciation because I’m not always right with the phonetic written pronunciation. As another reviewer stated, I really appreciate this app because before I used to keep notes on words to look up later that I had come across in writing or audio that I didn’t really know the definition of. But by the time I’d great to looking up the word on the net, I’d likely forget the provenance of the word’s usage. Most of the time I have an idiomatic or casual knowledge about the word but I like to know truly what is the definition. Along the way I’ve been very surprised to find that the definition is completely different than what I’ve thought. In fact recently I discovered that there is a word I often hear used and have used it as well but completely incorrectly. Long time ago Dictionary integrated the Thesaurus which is excellent since I also always like to see the synonyms and antonyms of the word I’m looking up to not only solidify the definition but also to expand my vocabulary. I would recommend this app to any wordsmith like me.

I have never seen an app use the ringer on off switch. What is wrong with just using the volume control?
Cannot clean out previous words!

This is a pretty good dictionary but they don’t provide a way to clear out your previous words.
Crashes on my XS

I’ve seen other reviews that are experiencing the same issue - the app searches a word and when attempting to perform another search, the app will crash. This happens far too often for a paid app!

The pronunciation tool hasn’t worked since I purchased the app. I’ve clicked the speaker icon several times, but no sound occurs. I tried to use the support page to report the issue, but the webpage would never let me submit a review.
