OK for rote practice; will not teach skills

Since the user is racing the clock, it seems this app is designed to practice fluency of the targeted skills. However, because students must search amongst other random numbers to find their correct answer, the time shown will not accurately reflect students’ abilities. The app does not explicitly inform students if the answer they chose is incorrect, it instead allows them to tap on any possible answer until they choose the correct one. As is, this app does no better job developing the targeted skills than manual flashcards or a timed test could do. This app can be improved by incorporating helpful feedback when students guess incorrectly and by using visual representations to promote a conceptual understanding. For example, if arrays were presented that corresponded to the multiplication problems, students could see that they are finding the total number of objects when they have a certain number of groups, each containing a certain number of objects. As of now, I wouldn’t recommend this app if you are looking to further develop (not just drill) the targeted skills.
