Don't worry - if you get stuck you can ask for a hint or you can make a guess about where a pattern should go. You will receive immediate feedback as to whether you were right or not - if you were wrong, you will face a time penalty. Finish the puzzle in the fastest time possible, then challenge your friends to beat your best time.
To play, press one of the color patterns below the play field then touch the square where you think the first cell of the pattern should go. There may be a second and third page of patterns - press the "+" (page up) button to access these additional pages.
I cannot figure out how this is even supposed to be played. There are no instructions, and it just seems to be a guessing game.
The game makes no logical sense, has no instructions or clues and will only tell you what the heck is supposed to happen if you pay $1.99! Bait-and-switch type free app. Save your time and keep moving.
No Instructions No logic Click on boxes until the color pattern you selected fills in. Ooooo.... aaaaaahhh... FAIL. There is NOTHING you need to do to play except ... Click on a color pattern and then click madly around this "crossword" pattern until the pattern gets placed into the crossword boxes. Is that fun? Egad, NO!!! sorry developer, this game is a complete FAIL...
I figured out how to play this. I have no idea why the dev didn't include that somewhere. The patterns you select from are for both across and down, without a hint as to the correct orientation. That's typical for this kind of puzzle. One suggestion to the dev is to put some breaks between the patterns of different lengths, as well as a thin border around the patterns. However, often this kind of puzzle comes with one segment already correctly place, or some unique arrangement which makes beginning these puzzles much easier. To start the puzzles in this app, sadly, you do have to guess blindly. I suggest selecting a five long patterns and the click every square that starts a five long section, either across or down. Once you have found the correct placement, the crossword part starts. The pattern you just placed shares squares with empty sections. The patterns which fill these sections will have the same color in the shared square. So check the length of the section, and note the shared square's color and position in the empty section. The pattern which belongs in the empty section will have that color in that position. Try all such patterns. Note that the left to right sequence of the patterns will run either left to right or top to bottom somewhere in the grid. The more squares which are filled in in a section, the easier it is to determine the correct pattern. Also note that nothing appears to happen when you complete the puzzle.
Seriously, instructions IN THE GAME SOMEWHERE would help. The only good thing is, well, I didn't waste any money on it.
Once you download the app, you can't play anything until you buy a board. I don't have a problem with that, I have a problem with the deception of it. Why not charge for the app in the first place and provide a few playable boards with it?
LadyGraySea is mistaken. This _is_ a free app. To start a puzzle, press the "Start!" button next to the "L (11x11)" in the main menu. There are five other puzzle sizes which the word "Enable" next to them - you have to pay if you want to play those. Each time you "Start!" a puzzle, you get a different random puzzle of the size you chose and there are virtually an infinite number of puzzles to play - you will likely never see the same puzzle twice.
This game is quite fun and easy. It's best to use a hint to get started & go from there. It's like any other fill-in game, except you're going by colors instead of letters or numbers. You don't even need to do that much guessing. If you start off with a color at the end of a five space clue, you look for five letter answers that have that color at the end. As you continue filling in the choices are lowered. It would be easier if the number of colors in each section were separated better.
