Slow compared to Day One Classic

unevenpath

I bought this version of Day One on sale when it first came out, and held off on using it until just recently when the Dropbox v1 APIs became deprecated. The original Day One (Classic) was amazing. It launched quickly, and the UI was delightfully responsive. I figured this was a good time to upgrade to the current version of Day One as I had some anxiety that the app would stop working eventually with each new version of iOS. With the current version of Day One, it feels slow. Not to the point of being unusable, but just extremely annoying. Multiply that by the number of times per day I want to enter a new entry and it makes me want to go back to Classic and switch to iCloud syncing. On an iPhone SE the app itself takes longer to launch. And then tapping the “+” button for a new entry is slow. And then to add a tag, when I start typing a tag name, it takes somewhere between 3-4 seconds to show me results. There is just a lot of friction to adding an entry now when there wasn’t any before with Classic. I’m sorely disappointed but hopeful it will improve over time.

Day one is nice

I love the reminder and ease to capture gratitude and things toward achieving my goals

pricing model makes it useless

Komocode

i used to have the classic app where i didn’t pay monthly. but now they switched over to the monthly pricing model and in order to sync with my mac, i have to pay monthly. so now i have to figure out how to migrate my thousands of entries into some platform that doesn’t have a dumb business model.

Can’t add photos

Aetolia

Okay... downloaded the app... tried to take a photo and it says “unable to access photos” and gives the ability to open settings from the app. Click the “open settings button” and no where in there does it say photos or camera. Okay, Settings - Day One. That’s where that link Day One had sent me. Okay so I’ll just go to Settings - Privacy and either Camera or Photos. It says Day One hasn’t requested access to either... oookay.... close and open Settings AND Day One?? Nope same result. I know, I’ll go to the developer website. Help section “Adding photos to Day One”. Very not helpful. Okay I’ll click the contact us link on their site and send an email. Great idea! Yeah... they don’t have of those. tl;dr. Couldn’t use. No help. Wasted Money. Deleted iOS 11.1.2, iPhone X

The only journaling app needed

Mr Toddles Esq

I had been searching endlessly for a journaling app that would be easy to use, fun to use and have all the robust features to document our family’s journey through life. This app nails it! I’ve used this app for almost 3 years and the first journal documented my my wife and I’s crazy long road to being blessed with twin boys through 2 rounds of IVF. These little dudes turn 2 in less than 2 weeks and without this app, we wouldn’t be able to look back on all the great, and not great moments that we’ve experienced over the years. If you’re like me and research and search until your head spins, stop looking and download Day One. You won’t regret it.

I love this journal, BUT

I am giving you four stars cuz there are still some features that you could add on the app to make it really amazing. For me, I use this to capture memories, to write my 3AM thoughts or my life goals. I pretty much depend on this. However, I would suggest an option to record a voice file, or to be able to insert a short clip at least 10-15 seconds long would be awesome to have; especially if you’re covering a specific event or emotions on your post.

Just bummed.

BrownCowDSM

I would love to rate this 5 stars, but as I was typing in my first journal entry, (might I add, really long first journal entry), the system bugged out, and when I opened the app back up, it only saved the first two words. Not paragraphs... words. I was so bummed, it led me to type this review. May have to stick with old fashioned pad and paper. Tech can be so annoying sometimes when the small things malfunction.

Journaling doesn’t have to be a journey

The app is intuitive, graceful and keeps your writing in the flow. Designed to get out of your way while keeping you on track. Still loving it daily.

I’m journaling!

I am a busy mom who felt guilty for not making baby books.... then this app found its way into my life! Game changer!!! I throw in entries wherever I am. I LOVE THIS APP!!!! Now having the ability to print books!! I am capturing my little girls life better than any baby book ever could. I have also gone to to make my own weight loss journal and gratitude journal. I CANT SAY THIS ENOUGH.... I LOVE THIS APP!!!

VERY EFFECTIVE

I have several folders into which I place items of interest on that subject. Very easy to find. Helps with daily and social life. Extremely efficient for me. Just what I’ve been looking for.
