Works

I really love this. Sometimes when I fall or start running my phone says "Are You Okay?" It really gives me the security to keep me safe and my friends and family can keep a track on me if something goes wrong.

Great concept: love the app

I originally downloaded the app when my daughter used it going across her school campus to feel safer @ CSULB (w/me and roommates). Since then, I use it to notify my spouse I'm coming home from work, traveling long distances to see my kids or while traveling alone, on business, etc. Love how the app has taken off with GaryVee and Planet of the Apps!! Congrats!

Fantastic app!!

Must be self-motivating

As someone who is in the youthful above 60 age group I love being able to take my daily walk & know that if I should fall or if something else happens I can get help relatively quickly. Thank you!! Independence is so important.

It's super simple, and it helps me maintain safe. I've gone out on a couple dates and this is my go to man.

So happy to finally find a free app where my family can watch me in real time when I am traveling at night.

Solid app that makes city living easier

I live in NYC and walking is a big part of getting around here. Coming home from a night out at a bar or walking home from the park by myself after a concert or movie showing would make my boyfriend nervous and he would ask me to take a cab instead of walking. Now I can use the Companion app so he knows what path I take and it would alert him if something did go awry so we can both feel more secure if I walk home in sketchy areas. Lots of the complaints and recommendations from older reviews have been implemented in the newer updates. (It uses a pin to deactivate the "Are You Okay?" and confirming that you are home, for instance. They also added a "wander" mode for just going for a walk without a destination.) I'm looking forward to the beta with watchers-as-a-service if you don't have friends who are available to mind your trip. I've used Companion for trips about a dozen times. On one occasion my phone crashed Companion (along with some other apps, so I don't think the crash was Companion's fault) and I didn't realize until my buddy gave me a call that my GPS had stopped. It would be nice if it somehow alerted one of us that my app had crashed. Though I also appreciate that it doesn't freak out when I'm on the subway and lose GPS/cell signal, so I'm not sure what the best way to handle it is. My only real complaint is that I wish there was a little more documentation about what the buttons did. For example, what exactly does the nervous button do? The description says that it helps my community keep track of unsafe areas. How? Does it ping my friend to remind them to watch more carefully? Does it mark that area as potentially dangerous for some future feature that says "some users have reported feeling nervous in this block, stay alert!" I would also be interested if they added a "I'm on a date" feature similar to the wander mode. It might ask for your date's name and license plate if they're driving. As is, I'm sure you could set a long wander and message that info to your friend, but it might be nice to have the date mode pull GPS less frequently (might save battery given that you might just be sitting at dinner for a while) and it would remind you to update your friend if you're headed home or if things are going well.

Made me feel safer

I love this app. I've never used it until last night (because I never needed to use it). But I'm SO glad I had it. I was in a bad situation and this app was super great and made me feel so much better. I'm telling all of my friends to get it.

Saw this on Jessica alba show
