All you have to do is enter your destination and select some contacts to be your Companions. They don't even need the app installed. These Companions see a live map of your progress and get updates as you make it from Point A to Point B. If you start running, don't make it to your destination on time, have your headphones yanked out or your phone falls to the ground, we will check in on you to make sure everything is okay. If you don't respond in 15 seconds, we will automatically alert your Companions.
You can also report areas in your community that make you uneasy. Simply tap the "I Feel Nervous" button and we'll pass this information on to your Companions.
If there's an emergency, you can call the police from our app with just two taps. We will connect you to the closest dispatcher.
Disclaimer: Continued use of GPS running in the background can decrease battery life.

App puts itself ahead of your safety

I used this app and appreciated the comfort it provided. Then the app was upgraded and my original version no longer worked. No one notified me of this so it wasn’t until I was walking home alone one night and tried to use the app and it failed that I was alerted to this. I kept trying to sign in and sign in but I couldn’t. Eventually I deleted the app and downloaded it again. Now it was a shiny new version. That’s all fine and good until I’m going through the set up process and now the app won’t work unless I give it access to my entire contacts. I’m not willing to give up that level of personal privacy so I cannot use the app. This means the developers are putting their apps success and their ability to glean data from me over my ability to use the app to promote my personal safety. Thanks a lot for ruining a great idea. Charge me money if you need to monetize your app. Stop raping me of my autonomy in determining my privacy and control over personal info.

I have been using this app for my daily run . I absolutely feel so much safer . It warms like a charm . I am in contact with my husband and have 911 right there at my fingertips . I suggested it to all my fellow woman runners in the park . This and my taser makes me feel very safe after a woman got attacked last month at the park . Thanks so much for this well thought through app by your company . I will highly recommend this to anyone .

I think this app is really awesome. I can see how it would make someone feel safe and loved. Sadly I didn’t really have anyone close enough to me to put into my “safety circle” so I can’t really use the app, I was hoping it would be just random people with the app also.

I like the 911 button that shows up as soon as I activate a trip, and the safety check option that allows me to turn it off when I get home.

Was only using so I could be a companion (a year now) for my daughter when it was dark outside and she was leaving work and walking a mile to her vehicle. If my daughter forgot to end her trip I could text her to make sure she was okay. I also love that it has an “I feel nervous button” and a “911” call button. It also tells your contacts when you should arrive at your destination. I personally started using this app this week (February 19, 2018. So easy to download and set up-taking only minutes to do so! After using the app on 4 different trips I realized my contacts weren’t being notified. I contacted customer support and within 1/2 hr had a reply. After several emails back and forth they explained in detail why the problem occurred then assisted me in correcting the issue within the app on my end. 5 Stars for that alone!

I live in El Paso and my daughter lives in New York she just trigger the Companion app sets the trip and I know when she gets to where ever she’s going and I feel she safe ??♀️????♀️???
Battery Drain!

There is no way to turn this app off, even when you are not using it. It is constantly running in the background. This drains my phone’s battery. When this flaw is fixed, I will up my rating. In the meantime, I have divorced Companion.
